What's the skinny on an '03 37U diesel Bounder?

I have an appointment to look at an '03 37U diesel Bounder on Monday and was wondering if any of you have experience with this model. It has 40K miles, new tires, auto sat, all leather interior and from the pictures looks nice. It has the 300 Cummings with a 7.5 diesel gen. What are the things I should look for on this model. I have had 5 RVs but they all have been gas. What are the diesel issues? Thanks ahead of time for your help. BTW I sold my '05 Winne Adventurer after 4 months of ads and one offer!

The gas vs diesel question has been discussed numerous times and I suggest you search on 'gas' and 'diesel' to find those. You need to learn a lot of things about diesel chassis maintenance, including the air brake system. Freightliner Custom Chassis (chassis builder for the Bounder diesel) has some good info in an presentation called "Know Your Chassis"

I have an 07 diesel Bounder on a Freightliner chassis. My last unit was an 05 gas on a Ford chassis. The difference between the two is night and day. The ride alone is worth the price of admission. The gas unit would beat us to death in the mountains and on roads that were just a little rough. It is now quiet in the cabin most of the time. One of the big differences is that the trucks no longer blow us to the side as they pass. The diesel is more expensive to operate than the gas.

We have been looking at similar units and aside from all the service records (the more the better) one thing that has jumped out at me on Fleetwoods has been in the black tank area. Not all of them came with a black tank flush. I'm sure you can add one, but I did notice the lack of it from the factory on some models. Second was that with some I just looked at the actual angles you'd have to run the hose, and just shook my head. Not saying either issue would stop me; just things to keep in mind.

Don't forget to pull out the awnings and check their condition.

There are also several minor variations of floorplan in that coach. My wife prefers (but for the right coach I doubt we'd consider it a show stopper) the same coach as the 37U but with the "zig zag" bathoom model 37T (where there's not a "straight shot" looking down the coach) because of the greater sense of privacy for the bedroom.

But it's all about condition, condition, condition.
