where the heck is the data port
Hey there all,
I feel like this is a silly question... My CEL came on, but when I got in the coach with my scanner, I couldn't find the data port. I don't see it anywhere under the dash. Is it in some strange nether place?
1999 Southwind 36Z, Ford Chassis.
Thanks,
Juan

My Fleetwood, Pace Arrow, Ford, 1996 Chassis had it located under the engine cover forward on the left side. It was so hard to get to I bought and extension cable for the reader.

Oh wow, that blows. I'll have to look tomorrow when I go work on the coach.
Thanks.

High up, beside of, right side of steering column. Mine points down, it hard to see and might have a cover.

It is easy to find the plug on a 1999 F53. Look on the firewall behind the brake pedal. You will find a plastic covered wire bundle. follow it up the firewall. It will split. One half goes to the fuel pump reset switch. The other half goes to the OBDll port.

Ford moved it out of the engine compartment on the OBD ll system in the F53 chassis. They did this because the OBDll system gave so much more information and there were going to be all kinds of new gizmos to hook up to it.

Also the OBD port is supposed to be within 18" of the steering column to facilitate operating the vehicle while using the port.
On my 2016 Bounder, the OBD port was hanging loose between the steering column and the Park Brake pedal.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll be at the coach tomorrow. The popular consensus is right side of Steering column, as Fleetwood moved it in 1998. I'll update tomorrow
