Who has a 17/18 Discovery 38K?

Got to take a look at one the other day and it sure seems like ticks off all of my want list other than I would like a little larger engine.

Was wondering if anyone on the forum has one and could give me some first hand experience living with it?

No first hand experience but Iíve been looking at a few lately.

Is the 38k youíre looking at a Discovery or a Pace Arrow? That would be the difference for me in that for a few thousand more, amenities like flooring, perhaps roof and appliances and engine hp may be upgraded.

But the 38k is a nice coach and Iím sure you would enjoy using it.

Iím sorry. I see where you said it was a Discovery. That unit in my research is a nice coach.

I don't have a 38K but I have had an 08 Expedition 36D and currently have a 2018 Discovery 40D. The Expedition had the 6.7L motor and the 40D has the bigger 8.9L motor. The 6.7L is a decent motor, it will keep up with a V10 gasser that weighs 10,000 lbs. less. When driving the 6.7L you have to keep an eye on the terrain, if you see a hill coming, you want to get on the "go" pedal to build up a little speed. It gets pretty reasonable fuel economy my old 08 averaged 8.5 mpg.

The 8.9L engine is worth the cost of the upgrade in my opinion. In most cases, the cruise control will easily maintain its set speed. It takes a pretty big hill to make the transmission down shift. As my motor has broken in, the fuel economy has risen to 8 mpg. YRMV

My 15 Discovery 40E 380hp chassis has been very reliable. Fleetwood's portion, something breaks every trip. I get 8.8 mpg over 45k miles. Considering I now know every system thoroughly, get decent mileage, have many spare parts and tools, have plenty of storage and room I'm not going to change since I'm in my mid- 70's.
If I have to it would be the Ford Godzilla engine in a Newmar.
