Window awnings

Has anyone installed window awnings? I just purchased Carefree window awnings and the instructions advise to "connect to structure". Is the exterior skin sufficient to attach to with the screws included in the kits? I installed the same type awnings on my last Winnebago with the included screws and had no problems. Thanks

I can't speak for your coach but our 1999 Bounder has awnings attached at all the windows and as far as I know have been on there since new. They are all fine today.

MDPD,

If I may ask what awnings did you go with? I love the legless look of the Marquee to match the DS legless awning, but since everything is now wired through the ePlex system I don't know if it is feasible. My wife and I are interested in the 36H floorplan and the idea of a nice awning over the dinette / couch ODS long windows is appealing. It would be nice if the ePlex system had spare buttons if you needed to add another switched device.

Approx 18 months ago I installed 3 window awnings. I was advised to use Rivets, which I did. The key was ensuring proper fastening was that you knew the thickness of the fibreglass so that the correct size Rivet could be used.
Since installation I have never had a problem, even though they have been left out during extreme weather and high winds.
