Winterizing Samsung Ice Maker

Hello all, I have a new Bounder 34T with the three door frig. I found out to winterize my Ice Maker that on the Ice Maker is a test button. So I with pink antifreeze ready and water pump on and of course the generator putting out 110 I Pressed the ice feller/lever twice then hit the test button for an 8 second count an what do you know it went into a cycle and at first pumped out some water then went to pink!!!! YEAh

Now my coach is ready for the long winter months!!!

Hi, I bought our 38J Winnebago this spring, and it had been winterized with rv antifreeze. It took ages to get the taste out of the ice cubes it made, so this Fall I used air pressure to blow out the whole system- ice maker, washing machine, etc. It was quick and easy, just had to energize the solenoid for the water supply to fridge and blow air until it's dry. Also ran the washer through a quick cycle with air, then put 2 cups antifreeze in and did a spin cycle. Removed and drained the inline filters also.
I have always had good luck with blowing out and only putting antifreeze in the "P" traps for years with our old rig. It will get down to 25 to 30 below here, so have to be careful about freeze-ups!

never have any issue with getting rid of the antifreeze, run test button until clear water comes out delivery tube, then i let it make a full tray of ice and chunk it. Good to go

Bepar108, I really do not know the specific name other than what it does. It is the arm or paddle on the side of the ice maker that hangs down in your ice drawer and when the ice drawer is full the ice pushes the arm or paddle up and turns of the ice maker.

Test button is centered on the face of the ice maker on the bottom a small square button not hard to find.

Hope this helps.

Unplugged, I hear you on the pink antifreeze and taste. When I winterized my coach I did not know about the test button! Believe me I was reading others who said to take off the intake line compression fitting and let drain, boy that was a big mistake!!!! what a pain it was to reconnect! Anyway doing some research I found out about the test switch, but sence I had already put the pink in all my water lines had no choice but to put antifreeze in the ice maker. Next year I plan to blow out the lines and shut off ice maker lines and put pink in the rest of my lines.

Anyway hope this helps someone else with the residential fridge.

Could you please explain more about pressing that lever. Do you push it down or up? I am afraid of doing anything to that lever. Also, do you have to hold the test button for 8 seconds before it activates a cycle. When i pushed it for just a couple of seconds, the tray lever tilted to dump and then returned to level. Is that a cycle? I put pressure in the line when I pressed that button and didn't hear any air come out of that area.

Bepar108, when you push that lever just to lift it up till it stops, I did it twice, then held the button through the whole cycle! Which as you noticed the ice tray turns over (where you stoped) and then it continues to turn itself upright THEN the water fills the ice mold. Don't be afraid to lift the lever should not force it! Maybe watch how your regular frig cycles.
