Boost switch blow out

Last time I started up about three weeks ago the initial turnover was slow so I used the Boost switch to use the energy from the house batteries as well as the chassis battery. It worked well even though it had been over two months since the last start. I gave it a good run, battery levels were back up after the charging session.
This time I hooked up the batteries, moved the ignition key one click to start the activation (dial swing) before I went to second position to activate the starter. What was different this time is that I pushed the Booster switch before I tried the starter. I heard. Click and the who,e system went dark. No electrical power at all. No dash lights activated, no headlights activated… nada.
I lifted the dash lid and checked the fuses. One 5 amp fuse was blown.
I substituted another fuse in … and still no turnover of the starter. The system seemed dead. No other fuses blown, no breaker switches tripped. The salesman’s switch at the door was on as well. Just no juice in the system.
The wiring on the Boost switch seemed sound (pulled it apart and reinserted etc.)
Stymied!
Any ideas where I should look next?

With having had the batteries disconnected , that's where to start.
Remove clean and reconnect .
All your issues have the sound of a bad connection ( providing the batteries are in good condition ) .

Do you have a volt meter and a 12 volt test light ?

Takes about 10 hours to charge lead acid batteries, maybe they just slowly died.

How about giving us an idea what coach you have.

As suggested above. Need to take a volt meter at your batteries and verify that both house and chassis batteries are at or around 12.7V

If you have proper voltage at the batteries, and it sounds you know where the boost solenoid is, check both sides to ground and see what voltage you have there.

Then we will have a good idea as to go from there.

Booster Switch Blowout

Problem solved. The battery strengths were good but I thought yesterday to recheck the fuses and connections.
Fuses remained good (although I did not that several spots had fuses in that were rated higher than was indicated on the fuse chart) I will rectify that another day.
I checked connections (switches, relays etc.) and when I came to the ECM one of the connectors on the output side ( I assume) was a bit loose although still in place. I pushed it in tighter and there was a slight reassuring click of a good connection. So I proceeded to reconnect the batteries (their standard in-storage mode is disconnected) and when I returned to the inside the radio was on. That is a very good sign that I had regained power to the electrics of the beast. Inserted the key, and enjoyed the first slow clicks, then the usual turning over of the engine via the starter - and Vroom!
Happy camper once again.

By the way - the unit is a 1993 Foretravel Unihome (U 280) 36' long. We lived in it almost full time for over six years and learned a lot about all the systems that support it. The Forum is one of those 'systems' that is very reliable!

Thanks for your help and suggestions.
