Comfort drive

Perhaps a stupid question, but does Foretravel have Comfort Drive (or any equivalent)?

Foretravel has something "Premiere Steer™" which I assume is equivalent to Comfort Drive.

Here is a link to a Foretravel brochure.

Well, my wife and I picked up our Foretravel Realm Presidential just two weeks ago and drove it the 1,200 miles back home. Setting aside the thread title for just a second, we love it. "Fit and finish" are great. Rides like a dream. Slideouts are amazing. Technology is unmatched (at least among other coaches we looked at). So many upsides and niceties that we are still just ga-ga over it.

But one point must be made: Premier Steer ain't Comfort Drive.

We were only about 10-15 miles up the road upon departure when it became apparent. When Comfort Drive is set to 6, the highest level, the steering is so rigid that one hardly needs to turn the wheel when driving along the interstate. There is no tension buildup in the driver's shoulders. The coach practically drives itself and remains in the middle of the lane.

You gotta drive with Premier Steer. The coach every few seconds drifts to either the left or right, and the driver must tweak the wheel back toward the center. A few minutes into the drive, the driver's shoulders exhibit the strain and the tension that come from "driving" the coach.

I'd been driving our London Aire for seven years, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. That said, we love the Foretravel and have no regrets in buying it. But there's nothing equal about Comfort Drive and Premier Steer.

I would call Foretravel and talk to them about this. Something is not right. My coach does not have either system and it drives like my new Chevy pickup. I just sit back and watch the scenery, unless on a curvy road.

I know many owners of new coaches that have come from Newmar and none of them have said anything about have this feeling.

Doesn't Spartan supply ZF ReAX adaptive steering technology and Foretravel renames it Premier Steer?

Here is a link to the ReAX manual on Spartain's website. Note trouble shooting section (Efforts control knob not changing steering effort correctly).

Thanks, Turbo. I’ll give that a shot. Really appreciate it.

I have the same feeling with my 08 Nimbus. Thought it was in part due to not having independent front suspension. I find it feels better if I go faster. 65-70 is more relaxing than trying to keep it in the lane at 55. At lower speeds feel like I am over correcting.

HeelDice, Have you gotten the problem solved or an answer yet?

Today I put 400 miles on my ih on I-10 in Az, NM, and TX. There was part where I had a good side wind and the only way I knew it was looking at the flags . Almost all of the trip could have been done with 1 hand on the wheel. So far in the last 30 days I have driven over 2500 miles and I never felt "tension buildup in the driver's shoulders" My coach does not have special steering aid.

Thanks for checking, Turbo. I have not gotten an answer yet. Last week I spoke to a person with the dealership where I purchased the Realm Presidential. He told me that the Premier Steer calls for more effort to turn the steering wheel when the dial was set to 1 (not 5).

Alas, I checked the owner's manual and it says just the opposite.

I would call the factory.

You also need to add your new coach to your signature.

On a side note, there are area Foretravel Motorcade Rallies where you can learn a lot of things about your coach from other owners. There are also Motorcades that go to different locations. When I got my coach I had lots of questions.
