Hitchview on backup camera in a 2022 FS450

We purchased a 2022 Realm FS450. When going into reverse, the backup camera points straight down so you only see the hitch area and not what's behind me. When in hitchview, the camera cannot be changed by any dash controls other than switching out of reverse. That requires a spotter to avoid hitting things like live oak tree limbs, but if my wife stands directly behind the coach, I can't see her. What if she tripped on a tree root? It's an accident waiting to happen. So, I admonished her to stand where she can clearly see my mirrors! As a Motorcade member, I called FT tech support and was told that there was no fix for this as it was in the camera system itself. It seems logical to me that there has to be a sensor wire somewhere that tells the camera system that reverse has been selected. Has anyone with the hitchview feature found a fix or workaround for this?

Why not just add a second camera and display? Easy, cheap and more info for you.

Not sure yours is the same but the control box for the rear camera is in the dash right above the steps. The trim piece is held on with velcro. My guess is there is a reverse wire in that box.

Let us know what you find out.

Turbojack, that's what I figured. But before I start cutting wires, I figured that maybe someone had already figured out which wire I needed to disconnect. Foretravel tech support said there was nothing that could be done about this.

Adding a second camera requires mounting it on the rear, running a cable from its location to the dash area (including securing it along its entire way), and mounting the monitor somewhere. I've done that with a Weldex camera in a Travel Supreme and it was daunting. I have tried a wireless camera planted on a tow dolly and the video was awful and the camera mount was junky, but it wasn't the Voyager 7" Wisight 2.0 system sold by RVCams.com (about $500). That would be an option if there's nothing simple like disconnecting the reverse signal feed to the current monitor. Even a wireless camera would require a power and ground wire.

I don't have that feature, but when I was in the box there were three connections, 1 to camera, 1 to dash control and one power. I have a Total Vision Camera, is that what you have?

Foretravel is not going to take the time to figure out what wire you need to disconnect, Easier to say it can't be done.
