Looking at Foretravel

I知 looking at an 06 pheonix with the 600 hp Cummins. I love the fact that they have disc brakes, and the floor plan with four slides is nice. Is there anything in this year model I need to be aware of? I致e also heard of problems with the x15 motors ( mostly the 650 hp). Any help or info would be appreciated. Dan

The 2006 Phenix does not have a Cummins x15.

It could have a couple of different engine models, depending on when in the model year it was built and how long of a coach it is. 500-525 hp were more common. The 600 hp ISX was likely introduced in the 2007 model, not the 2006 one (unless late in the production year), so verify what this coach has. https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=26853.0

2006 was the first model year Phenix and the first new design for Foretravel after the Fore family sold the company to the investment group headed by Lyle Reed. There were only a handful (less than 15 or so) produced.

The one I知 looking at is advertised at Motorhomes of Texas. The ad says it has a 600 x15. In the picture you can see that it is a duel overhead cam. I thought the 500-525 was a single cam. I知 only going by what is advertised, I live in SC and I知 just doing some research

It might be a 600 ISX if it was late in the build year, but the X15 is a much newer engine - as in introduced just in the last couple of years. So it's not an x15.

The 600 ISX has the dropped valve issue...

If it has a 600 ISX it also will have the dry PTO problem. There is no wet kit retrofit due to a space problem. The PTO will require periodic manual lubrication or you will lose engine cooling on the road and be stranded. Happened to a friend with a 2010 Phenix and the 600 ISX.
