What years/models use the air seal on the Slide rooms?

I see that Foretravel uses an air seal (bladder) around the Slide Rooms. The Foretravel website says this seal provides a watertight seal regardless of room position (in, out, or in-between). This is a lot better than the rubber wiper strips and topper method used by the other coach manufacturers.

This sounds like a great feature. Does it work as good as it sounds?

I cant afford a "new" Foretravel so I'd like to look at older models with this feature. When did Foretravel start using this design?

Slides were first offered in 2000 models. The inflated seal system is effective and quite expensive to replace. Slide Bladder Replacement

Correct, and to expand, all Foretravels (save maybe the weird Sprinter-based micro villa) use the HWH air bladders.

You're looking at several thousand per bladder for replacement (usually around $1-2K for the bladder, 8-16 hours labor), and since they are rubber they do age out. Data seems to indicate a 7-10 year lifespan. The 2000-2001 coaches (and maybe some 2002) require the entire slide to be removed (by forklift) in order to replace the bladder.

The slide bladders do give a clean look to the outside of the coach, but servicing them is not a DIY job at all.

There is no watertight seal while the slide is going in or out. When you get ready to open or close a slide there is a vacuum that is put on the bladder/seal (think big bicycle inter tube) to get it to deflate. Once system thinks all of the air is out of seal it will then let you move the side. Once done the bladder will inflate to form the seal.

Foretravel, Newell, & Prevost have been using this type of slideout and seals since they started installing slides.

If you are going for new vs new I do not think that will happen.

There are a lot of differences between the two. I have a friend that has a 2019 Entregra Cornerstone. It is a very nice coach but after being in our Foretravel and then the Cornerstone you can start seeing the differences. There are also a lot of differences you do not see.
