2009 Yellowstone GX2 5291

We're going to try the Class C world again. Found a 2009 Gulfstream Yellowstone GX2 5291. I can find info on the BT Cruiser and even found a couple of pics of the Yellowstone version but I can't find any info on the rails that run along the top on both sides. Does anyone have any info on if these are a structural component related to the sky view front cap or are they just a design feature? Any other info would be appreciated.
