batteries

2000 Gulfstream Diesel.
I have Three 12 volt batteries, Spartan says that it came with 2.
Anyhow I replaced them and now I need to know which cables go to which battery.
Besides having 3 heavy gage (red) cables I have a bundle of white wires and a smaller black wire. Also 1 heavy gage black wire.

Are you replacing the chassis batteries or the house ( coach ) batteries. Or both coach and house.
Spartan would have only installed 2 chassis ( engine start batteries).
Gulfstream would have installed the house batteries , that's why Spartan said 2.

Without seeing the parts the general answer is the red's tie the + posts to a common point. There should also be black wires to tie the - terminals together at a common point so the 3 batteries are in parallel.

I have 2 battery trays. The bottom has the four 6 volt batteries.
The top has the three 12 volt batteries, 2 of which are in parallel, supplied by Spartan.
One red cable connects the 2 batteries in parallel, along with a corresponding ground cable.
There are 2 more heavy gage Red cables. Spartan can't say if they are their cables or Gulfstreams.
In the end it's still 12 volts, I would just like to know if there is any special reason for one to be connected to the single 12 volt battery as opposed to the 2 in parallel.
All three have a common ground.
Is the 3 battery setup common with other Scenic Cruisers?

In general, put them back the same as they were connected before you started. As for the three 12V, is it possible that two are for the chassis and the third was installed for a totally separate purpose? Example would be a small PSW inverter for a CPAP.

Gulf Stream used 3 chassis batteries and 4 six volt golf cart batteries or the house back then. The red cables and small gauge black wire go on the positive battery post and the large black cable and small white wires go on the negative battery post of the chassis battery bank. The batteries are all three wired in parallel (+ to + and - to -).

RV Wizard. The problem was all mine. When I removed the batteries I took a picture ( in my mind ) of the way they were connected.
Six months later I forgot that one of the batteries was set in the tray with the Neg. post on the left.
Thank you for the conformation

Should have taken a picture with your phone and not with your mind.
