Is there any other source other than the alternator to charge the chassis battery?
In the Tourmaster both house and chassis are in the same compartment I did hook up a echo-charge but was it necessary

Yes. I not sure about the Tourmaster but on my Scenic Cruiser the chassis batteries are only charged when the engine is running. I installed a Battery Minder to keep the chassis batteries charged when plugged into shore power. If not the batteries will only last about 2 week unless you use the battery shutoff switch.

Hope this helps.

same here dead in about 2 weeks, The TM 40b has the 2 battery groups together house and chassis in same compartment so they both get a charge from the converter thru the echo-charge
