Generator power supply to starter

After a winter in storage I have noticed that the generator in my 1994 Gulfstream Scenic Cruiser doesn't seem to have enough voltage to turn the started. I can trace the battery cable as a last resort. Does anyone know if the starter is powered from the house batteries or the main batteries? Or could the cable originate from the panel in the basement? all of the batteries are charged fully and the coach has been driven. Solenoid on the generator kicks in and starter just barely turns. Voltage is low on the hot side of the solenoid. Any help would be great....Thanks

On my coach the house batteries start the generator.... the chassis batteries start the Caterpillar engine.

Your generator like most others, runs off your house batteries. Check your connections. You may not be getting enough voltage. Try starting while holding your emer. start switch and see if that makes a difference.

Good luck.

Don't forget to make sure you have a good hot and ground connection as well.

Had good luck

After doing a lot of testing and chasing wires, I did find a bad ground. Took it loose and cleaned it up. Generator fired right up.
Thanks for all the good advice....Let's go camping
