I must say I’ve looked at several different manufacturers for A’s and super C’s. This forum has been extremely informative in what to look for (both pro and con). Thank you iRV2 for this great resource.

Tomorrow we are going to look at a Tioga 26q ( wife’s interest). Being a good hubby I will try to have an open mind. At 6’3” I’m thinking it’s a tight squeeze no matter how I look at it.

The Endura is still available. Has the 8.1 which is a plus for me. One issue is the oil pressure gauge is intermittent. Have been told that it’s not uncommon. Has anyone experienced this and what was the fix? Two other issues this motor home has is the generator keeps struggling under load (carb was just replaced) and rear ac blows warm.

Google the oil pressure gauge. On a 2005 Monaco 8.1 I read a post and reply pressure dropping when hot is normal. Not working at all a problem. Google more for r&r.
How many hours on genny and the year of the Endura?
Factor in generator repair and likely new rear AC r&r into your decision.
Was this inspected? If not should be because these aren't cheap fixes but may be worth it if that's all that's wrong

The super C is a 2005 with 18,000 miles. Not sure of the generator hours but fairly low if I remember correctly. Sounds like it spent most of the time parked in a garage. The generator ran good under light loads but with both ac’s it would sputter and come back to full rpm. I’m inclined to think fuel pump since the carb was replaced. I offered significantly lower 12,000 for the repairs Ive come up with. He seems interested, said if I brought my numbers up a little bit it could work.

Well the national motorhome slipped through my fingers. Looking at a couple of southwind class A and reconsidering the Endura. Like the super C chassis and definitely the power train. The generator on the Endura has 770 hours. My thought is the owner used it as a guest quarter on his property. Shower looks like it’s never been used as well as the kitchen appliances.

Was it fully warmed up when it sputtered? If it happens repeatedly that could be an issue. 770 hours is not high considering 2 hrs a month running under load for maintenance
I've got a 2006 4kw Onan with about 850 hours. There is a little sputter the 1st time the single ac is turned on. But after that it purrs.
Probably mentioned before but get up on the roof and inspect it for caulking cracks or deterioration. What's the membrane, epdm? 15-20 years on epdm is about it. They deteriorate fast when it starts
If epdm it needs a rubber roof coating. I just applied Hengs Rubber Roof coating and am very happy.

Oh the generator was warm it was like 104° at six in the evening. He had the motor home engine running as well as the generator trying to cool it down twenty minutes before my arrival. I did get up on the roof. It’s a rough texture fiberglass roof. The sealant will need to be redone as I could see cracks here and there.

Cracks may seem like a small thing but they can be very bad. You say it was garaged. Keeping it under cover is extremely important until the cracks are attended to. I'd make that part of the deal unless you can keep it under cover.

I will not have a roof over it but will have a fabric cover. The cracks I mentioned are not the roof but the sealant by the ladder. This will be the first order of business if and when it comes home. I am a big fan of the engine access on these vs the class A&C’s and what truly interests me. Looking at the other motorhomes I wonder about a water pump replacement or serpentine belt replacement.

The thing is, a crack in the sealant is an opening for water. That's how most water damage occurs. I was not referring to roof cracks in the sense that the membrane is cracked.
Roofing damage at the ladder attachment points is very common. Sealant is there to seal openings whether it is screws securing the ladder base to the roof or flashing and the screws securing them to the roof.
Great your going to cover it and have a plan to work on it. A good cover will have a tyvek roof and breathable fabric on the sides with adjustment points at the top and bottom, and belly straps.
I agree with you on access to the engine. Hope there's not much to be done under the hood. I like Super Cs for the perception of safety with the engine in front although I don't think they are subject to the same frontal collision protections as passenger cars and light trucks.
So, when are you picking it up?

Still on the fence, got sidetracked due to a fire here in our mountains, took a trip to North Dakota, home now catching up projects. Looked at a few different A’s and a couple of regular C’s. Think at 6’3” I can rule out the C’s. Will be discussing on the Super C this coming week. I will probably hire a rv inspector just to verify what I saw and hopefully find nothing additional to repair. My concern is soft spots around the slides. Evidently the oil pressure issue is not that rare with the Kodiak chassis. There’s a company back east that repairs the gauge cluster. I’ve read that these gauge issues are due to the cluster but also poor grounds. This is the one mandatory fix if I buy. I figure on the rear A/C I’d replace the unit with one that is also a heat pump. Be nice to not burn propane when at a park.
