Is a 2007 too old?

I am new to the Gulf Stream site. I am looking at a 2007 Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser Class C. Sprinter 3500, 5 cyl Mercedes turbo diesel. Has only 40,000 on it. The wife thinks it's too old. I'm saying with only 40,000 miles, forget the age. All systems inside the coach are in excellent working order. Anybody care to share thoughts if it's too old?

That 5cyl diesel sprinter will still be running long after humans have become extinct. If you guys like the RV, and the RV part of the coach is in good shape I would go for it.

All the rubber parts are getting hard, and likely to split or crack at this age. Look carefully at the age of the tires, replace if over 7 years old (look at the date code molded into the sidewall of the tire)

Belts, and hoses will be needing replacement if they are original as well.

There appear to be shoreline CGs that accommodate $500k+ rigs, that enforce the 10-yr rule, but suspect their clients never on internet here or (MY) other websites? I.e. Never read THEIR posts?

Sounds like it is barely broken in. That is a great drive train. Make sure tires are not aged out, and maybe plan to buy a few batteries. Flush holding tanks, sanitize fresh water. Fill it up and go have fun.

Our 2007 Newmar Bay Star runs great and still looks great but we have had to replace several items that have reached the end of their life expectancy, such as house batteries, refrigerator that lost it's ammonia gas, microwave where the glass shelf cracked and a new shelf was almost as much as a new microwave since the model was discontinued. But the price we paid for the coach reflected the cost we anticipated to incur so we are very happy with our purchase.

My coach is a 1995 with the Cummins B5.9 diesel and I would not want anything much newer. I don't have to use DEF, and don't have a DPF on my engine. Thankfully no slides either. I do have to replace a rear pinion seal and starter when we get home and I am going to Alabama next spring to get my original roof replaced. Starter still works, just gets hung up some times. I did replace it in 2011 with a cheap Chinese knock off and have never been happy with it. As stated above, you should expect to replace the engine rubber parts, Belts hoses etc and budget for new tires and batteries. BUT my Chassis batteries are going on 13 years old now and crank the old Cummins over with no issues. I guess it will all come down to how good a price you can get it for and how much you like to tinker.

We love our 2006 Crescendo enough to go fulltime in it in January. If everything is in good shape I don't see a problem except that some sites require 2010 or newer rigs.

I've read several threads on this issue and, for the most part, none of the respondents report being refused entry based on the age of their. In most cases, the rules are there in order to refuse entry to obviously trashy RVs.

In general, MH tires age out before they wear out. All tires have an age code embossed on them and the rule of thumb is to replace at 5 - 8 years, although Michelin cites annual inspections starting at 5 years and a 10 year maximum age:

I'd say that tires four or five or more years old are a bargaining point. If it has new or newish tires, you're ahead of the game.

We recently traded our 2007 Jayco Seneca 33ss (duramax) class"C" for a 2004 Pace Arrow (8.1 gasser) class "A", and could not be happier.
It took a bit of polish and minor fixes to bring her up to snuff, but she has "good bones".
A lot of the coach parts are common with several years / makes / models, and the W22 chassis was widely used, so parts are easy, for now. We're happy with her, and she's paid for............

Check tires, have it inspected.
