Hi all has been awhile,
We are currently looking an 06 Affinity Stags Leap Triple Slide and are looking for what we should be having checked out. i.e is there a dry spline issue with this year and model? Other known issues radiator etc.
Where we could find more specifications on the unit would be appreciated
Thanks,

If you go to Damon Rapozo’s site you will find all the details on Affinity’s for that year and more.

If it has a Cummins ISX and has not had the updated head installed, the engine is a ticking time bomb. Search Cummins ISX dropped valve.

All ISX engines from Cummins are not ticking time bombs. The ISX 650’s had the most recognizable problems. The repair for this engine has proven to be good if the most recent (now more than 2 years available) parts are used.
I’m thinking if you are looking at a 2006 Affinity it has a CAT engine.

If it’s got the 600hp ISX that was available in 2006 it’s a ticking time bomb.

Hi Greg
I just spent a week at Premier in Eugene having annual maintenance done. The biggest issue I would worry about is the slide out seals. Keeping water out is #1 way to ensure the coach build will last. You will want to have this inspected by someone who knows how to do it properly.
The obvious other issues on all RV’s are batteries and tires.
If any window are fogged you will want to talk to RV coach glass. I had another firm do some repairs but what they left me with is now getting fixed by RV Coach glass.
If you can collect the service history for the coach that will help you to know how well it was taken care of.
I needed to replace a couple of shocks and update my Silverleaf to accommodate new See Level tank sensors I had installed.
Most every item in a Country Coach can still be bought or upgraded today so taking care of them is not that tough.
Damon Rapozo is a good source of information on used Country Coaches. Chatting with him last week he is aware of most everyone for sale. He may be worth a call to chat.

It’s not the high mileage coaches that I would be concerned with. It’s the low mileage coaches that have done a lot of sitting (with intake valves rusting/pitting) that I would be concerned with. Mr_D needs to get on in this thread.

There is a lot of truth to the concern that all low mileage coaches could suffer from sitting to much. Mr D’s ISX is a 09 vintage CM871, the same as mine. We have spoken often about the #6 valve failures which have taken place. Mr.D unfortunately pioneered for us the problem and shared his findings and all the financial pains he incurred. Hopefully his drive across to HWH in Iowa is going well with his most recent rebuild.

I would plan on having the preemptive head work done. I would no way even want to think about having this bomb blow up far away from home. Get the work done close to home on your terms. Then one could have peace of mind while out on the road far away from home.

I'm just north of Salt Lake City now. Engine is running great. Spool up from a start is taking longer than I like and I got warning about "Ambient Air Density ER". Sent Andy a message about it. Waiting for a reply. Also seems like the high fan setting is late.
