07 Country Coach Allure dash air

Hi All,

I have an 07 Allure 470. I have had the dash a/c charged and checked way more times than I can admit to. Apparently there is no one that has the ability to find my leak. Has anyone ran new a/c lines from the rear of their coach to the front? i am sure my leak is somewhere in the frame run. All parts have been changed. Drier, condenser, lines checked and repaired by the a/c compressor at the engine. When the unit works it puts out tremendous cold air. I even tried a shop that used some of the supposedly best stop leak and that lasted about a week The system has been vaccumed out, and pressure tested for 24 hours. It all held. I am in the SF Bay area and would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

You mentioned trying to use a sealer with limited results, have you tried the UV dye that glows under black light to spot a leak? It would be a shame to go to the expense of replacing the long lines if the leak is in the evaporator or some other component.
Running new lines is a possibility, you might use 'hard' metal lines and just add the high-pressure flexible lines at either end. You might not be able to remove the old lines, according to how buried they are by compartments and additional systems.

I have 07 470 Allure and my dash AC has been repaired X 3. My leak has always been in fittings on high pressure hose near compressor. Part of the hose was replaced but the repairs last about 6 months. I am not sure I will fix it again. We just run the generator and use the roof AC units when we need cooling.

I know the dye can be added or is already in the system yes. You should be able to see the dye with the right flashlight and glasses. I have the kit I got from napa I think that has the flashlight and glasses.

Also, they sell a halogen leak detector for professional hvac guys. Many different types of "Freon" are halogen based and this sniffer will detect the gas. I am not sure which would be better in the detection but I am a gadget guy and although more expensive than a light and glasses it may be more sensitive. Google this thing and check it out.

The leaks on my previous CC Inspire were always on the fittings, as well. They were hard to get to and someone had used the wrong size o-rings. Leaks were found using dye. Think I had it in the shop at least 6 times for leaks. Would pass pressure test, then one day into the trip, the AC would die. The last time in, found that the condenser had a leak. Traded it in on the Intrigue before fixing that one.

When we bought our coach in '15, I told the dealer the dash air didn't work. They put on a new hose end fitting on the compressor, recharged, and that was that. We were travelling on the Oregon Coast, so we didn't use the air. Last summer, we were on Vancouver Island, and the weather turned hot. Turned on the dash air and zero cold air. We found a local shop, they replaced the schrader valves on the compressor, did the vacuum thing, recharged, and we're good to go. FF to spring '17, no cold air, so we dropped the MH off at our local CAT dealer. He found the hose end the dealer repaired wasn't crimped correctly (he showed me the old hose end fitting), found a small leak in the compressor (replaced) and leak tested. Recharged and all works well now. About a $2,000 repair, our extended warranty covered about half the cost. Persevere!
