08 Magna vss-vehicle speed sensor wire

installing a new radio and it ask for a vss connection. I am having trouble finding the wire to tap into. Has any of you guys ran into that yet?

I think the vss is the volume speed sensor. You most likely will have to adjust this manually. [emoji2]

I am working with a kenwood DNX996XR. It looks like the vss wire has to do with wireless apple carplay. They call it a vehicle speed sensor. They normally connect to the obd connection but they do not have provision for diesel pusher. If not connected it just means one has to connect the i phone directly and not wireless. Guess its an apple thing

I just took a look online at the installation book for your new radio. In the notes I concur with your thinking without the speed sensor connected the wireless apple car-play will not function.

Unless you can get your engine service folks to provide this to you I'm thinking you will not have the wireless functionality from this unit.

I installed a new Alpine unit with apple car-play a few months back. I can only on this unit connect my phone using the plug on the bottom of the phone, the other end of this cable plugs into the radio at the back. It works great and I really enjoy the simplicity of it all.

I do wish Google would add a few features to its mapping such as height limitation on roadways and roadside rest areas but, perhaps one day.
