Dash heat is not that good. Read a lot of people put curtain behind the driver to help keep the heat localized in the driver cabin.
I don't get out as much as I would like but when needed I just run the propane furnace.

Welcome! we also have a '98 40' Intrigue and its also fairly new to us (bought it earlier this year). What floorplan did you get? Coach number? Pics? Oh and its Cummins without a "g"

In our Bounder, with more cool air leaking in from the front then the OTR Heater could keep up with, we would run the generator and set a portable just a bit behind us on the floor, pointing towards the front. That along with he OTR Heater, would keep us from needing to wear gloves while driving down the road !
In our current coach, we will use the HydroHot heating system, which is kept warm via the engine loop. I believe your era coach has a furnace, which should be able to run as you go down the road too.
Best of luck to you, and enjoy the Intrigue!

I guess we're the exception to the rule. My dash heat will run us out of the cab in all but the most extreme cold. It's the cold air from the back that makes the difference. Then we turn up the hydronic and maintain an easy 75 in the coach while driving just using the engine heat.

Rub it in
I love my Allure, but wish it had the Hydronic heat.

Heck, with the right check book anyone can have hydronic
See Jim Rixen. He'd be glad to sell and install a comfort hot system for you.

How will you power those electric elements while traveling when temperatures are below 20 degrees?

Been there, done that, best investment I made in the coach. I've posted in another thread, but again, 25 out, 50ish in the bay and plumbing bay, 75 in the coach. Could not be happier. Making a cold winter very livable here in PA.
Jim will tell you ~68 @17 out, I've found better than that. At 12 I added the diesel burner as it would "only" hold 70. Ran it for an hour every 4hr or so.

OP, sorry to hijack your thread. If you have hydronic in that unit, run it on engine heat, if not you can run your propane heater while driving.
For those who wanted a pic of the install, see below. The unit works as usual on engine heat while driving. Control off, interior exchangers on, thermostat set to furnace. The electric is direct wired to the incoming line. This was my choice. You can only run the comfort hot or the heat pumps not both. Jim normally wires to the main panel.
