2005+ Affinity Question

Along the side of our Affinity (on the baggage door) appears to be mirror. Is this really mirror or is it highly polished stainless steel or is it something completely different?

Summit Steel Armor trim is a popular way of adding SS trim to the bottom portion of the basement bays, and door steps, and other areas too. They're a peel and stick on product.

Do not know if CC did these as an option on the Affinity, but very possibly could have been added by an owner, or installed by a shop. Premier RV Services has done this to coaches, while I was visiting..

Hope all is well, and best to you,
Smitty

Thanks Smitty, I am familiar with Summit as I have left a few shackles on their doorstep over the years. Wonderful company to work with.

Interesting to have my question go unanswered for a few days. I’ll call Jim or Gary at Premier in the next few days and ask my question and then share the answer.

All the best,

Curtis

Absolutely stainless steel. If you have it polished, make sure they know what they are doing! Wrong guy can warp it and leave buffing marks.
My detailer in So Cal made mine look like mirror.
This trim is only on the Affinity.

My 2005 Affinity had polished stainless steel down the length of the Coach. I would say approximately .063” thickness. I sold it a couple years ago so going by memory on thickness. It was a very beautiful Coach. If it would of been practical to do the upgrades I wanted I would of kept it. Bought a Newmar Essex, nice Coach but the CC was better looking and handled the wind a tad better.

Stainless, or...?

This is the coach I'm aiming to buy. (2008 Affinity) Is the mirror-like surface on the belt line actually steel...or a sick-on of some sort?

Polishing stainless steel

[QUOTE=rampage42;6315294] If you have it polished, make sure they know what they are doing! Wrong guy can warp it and leave buffing marks.

What should be avoided when polishing this material?

Others are correct, double sided tape and silicone hold these on. A buffer in the hands of an amateur can warp the material with heat. Can also put bad swirls in the stainless. Make sure whoever polishes it is qualified! Mine look like mirrors, I’ve seen others that are warped or have swirls in them.
What should be avoided, heat and inexperienced polisher.

I had my stainless steel polished last week. I hired it out to professionals, it took about 2 hours per panel as they had to stop when the panels became warm. It turned out perfect. Made one hell of a mess in the area around the panel, buffer fluff everywhere.

My 2005 was polished stainless steel. I’m sure this is the same.
