2006 Intrigue HWH leveling with tag

Does anyone know how the HWH air leveling system interacts with the tag axle? The Tag Switch on the dash will not raise the tag axle. We had the coach at HWH and they confirmed the HWH system is working correctly. Said the problem is "on the coach side".

We are trying to figure out how to trouble shoot this problem. Have not yet looked at schematics or fuses which we will do.
Are there two solenoid valves on each wheel? One to raise and one to lower? When leveling the parked coach does the HWH system unload the tag or does it use the tag and drive axle to level?

Interested in understanding theory of operation when CC added these Ridewell rear axles and tags.

I believe if your are going more than 5 miles per hour the tag is raised. My wife uses the tag when she see's it going to make turning easier.

If you want to get a Doctorate in HWH I can recommend an unusual source of expert HWH information. The web site used to be called BeamAlarm.com and had lots of great HWH information. They renamed the web site to AllThingsForetravel.com because the site is dedicated to Foretravel motorhomes. They have a blog that is extensive to say the least. Most anything HWH is covered there.

This link takes you to a page where a comprehensive explanation of the HWH leveling system(s). I say system(s) because HWH has engineered their leveling systems to work in many different ways over the years. You need to examine what you have (or call HWH and they can tell you) and then dive into the documentation for theory of operation. My HWH is a 2000 series. HWH sent me a service manual after talking with them on the phone. Here's what they say about the tag not dumping in that manual.

Thanks guys - lots of great information. It appears that the HWH system is working fine. It must be an electrical issue between HWH and the solenoids that control the tag.

Has anyone located those solenoids? I have yet to climb under there to look.

Over the weekend we dug into it more found the 2000 series box in the middle bay drivers side and found the circuit board with the LEDs and fuses. Now the trouble shooting diagrams provided by Bons make sense. I think there's something wrong in the controller box itself. But we'll have to check for voltages on those wires as specified. But none of those LEDs are lit as far as I can tell.

OK we still don't have it figured out. Why the tag won't lift. Does anybody know if you short wire 81 to the wire labeled "tag" at the switch in the dash should the tag raise? This effectively puts 12volts from wire 81 to the tag wire which we believe is wire #7521 to the HWH controller box.

We've got the three controller boxes removed and unplugged to locate wire 7521.

What wire is #81? That's not a Country Coach wire number and I don't see it in the HWH documentation. Wire 7521 is indeed the wire that receives 12 volts when the tag dump switch is on and you're in first or reverse gear.

It may be beneficial for you to buy a wire tracer off Amazon...I think I paid 10 bucks or so for ours. Will allow you to locate shorted out wires along these massive chassis...

The TAG axle 6 pack solenoids will be back by the drive axle 6 packs solenoids...all the 6 pack solenoids are readily available from HWH as we have just replaced all of ours and have much improved air holding though somewhat longer times to Travel Mode or Level mode.

I hope you guys get this figured out...

The power lead to the tag dump switch is a country coach wire labeled #81. And the other wire is labeled tag. The other wires on that switch are either grounds or for lights. Seems like applying power to the wire labeled tag should dump the air from the tag and lift it??

Yah we've located the HWH valve block and verified normal operation. Raise, dump, level. Just can't get the tag to dump/lift independently.

The signal (voltage) from the tag switch is just a "request" that's sent to the HWH controller. The HWH controller is also monitoring the transmission via the CAN bus communication backbone. The CAN bus is wired to connector CN10 that is a 6 pin connector on a HWH module. If the HWH module doesn't detect first or reverse gear via the CAN bus then it won't activate the tag lift function regardless of the tag switch voltage.
