8-Pin Plug Issue

The vehicle side of my tow cord has lost tail/running lights
power. Turn and brakes work. I pulled the insides out and all the wires seem attached. Can anyone please tell me where the wires to that receptacle get power? Is there a fuse I'm missing?

Jerry

Check the inside of the plug on the tow. Make sure the pins are far enough apart to make contact when plugging cord in. I took a real small screwdriver and push into the slot to open it up, this was the problem I had.

Thanks, but I must have misled you. Itís not the toad side or the embilical cord that has the problem. Itís the coach that doesnít have power to the tail/running lights prong at the vehicleís receptacle. I mistyped, BTW. I meant 7-pin.

There should be a control board that controls the plug. Mine was on the top of the rear most bay on the passenger side. It was covered by a piece of metal held in place by 4 sheet metal screws. (2004 Allure) I've read that other models have it mounted under a drawer in the bedroom wardrobe area.

OK, I have not found my fuse box but some say it's on the wall in the engine compartment. Hope I don't need to find mine.

Thanks to all. Found my Tow Box (what Country Coach calls it) on upper right rear wall of Engine Bay. Have to contort to get 3 screws out; so, just replaced left and upper ones. Inside are four fuses and some relays. Fuses are supposed to be all 7.5A per Kevin W. The busted one for my tail/running lights was 10A. Donno why. Replaced it w 7.5A. What the relays are for is a mystery to me but CC has them there. The entire box can go out eventually. Replacement is $250. It was pretty dirty inside cover; so, I guess I need to replace seal and use all 3 screws.

If it blew a fuse you have an issue somewhere.
Someone put a bigger one it to try keep it from blowing but fuses last forever in proper conditions. When they fail it is to protect the coach from burning up or hurting itself.

You have a short somewhere, and it should be corrected.
When they wire up a toad they often splice into wiring or use the crap clip on connectors. Thy fail often but it is usually pretty easy to find

or put a really big fuse in and watch to see what starts smoking (don't do that)

Has this issue yet been resolved? If not, Iíll just pass this along for what itís worth. Hereís the short version. Just a couple weeks ago I was having trouble with the coach turn signals. When I would signal right the front indicators worked properly, but both rear turn signals flashed as though I had the emergency flashers turned on. After a lot of troubleshooting I discovered there are several diodes wired into the wiring bundle near the rear bumper going to the 7-pin plug. Over the years one of the pair shorted together causing them symptoms I was seeing. I had to remove everything and re-solder the diodes and then wrap them individually to prevent a recurrence. I donít know if your coach has a similar arrangement, but advanced knowledge of this would have saved me
LOTS of time troubleshooting.
