98 CC Intrigue, Cruise Control on turn signal lever

Hello All,

Has anyone had to deal with removing the cruise control mechanism off the turn signal lever of their older Country Coach? My turn signal & hazard module went out and I will be getting a new module from Kevin Waite out of Oregon in a few days. I need to remove the cruise control device from the old shaft if I want to use it with the new module, which has just the lever. The underside of the cruise control module appears to have two small circular spots that could be screw covers but no amount of poking, prying, and and generally almost destroying these 2 spots reveal any screws under the surface. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Kevin thought the lever unscrewed and I could just swap out levers, however that is not the case. There is a small key way that is visible but I haven’t had any luck with inserting any pick tool, small Allen wrench, or any thing else that will fit to feel any kind of release. Also if anyone has any suggestions to either method which would ultimately solve my problem, I’d be very appreciative.

What the second picture shows is a turn signal module I received from Kevin a year ago while in Kansas but never installed as my turn signal problem was intermittent. That module had no lever included however the same key way. Just showing a side by side comparison. Kevin was good enough to send a replacement with the lever attached at no cost. Will send previous switch back here shortly.

Thanks in advance, I’ve been living in the coach for over a year here in GA while working at Planet Vogtle, unit 4 & about to hit the road back to the sunny Space Coast of Florida for the holidays with the GranTwins!!

Take a good close look inside the new signal switch ; I believe what you'll see is the ; key way ; goes down a certain distance then goes sideways, to a lock position .

On older automotive applications that used this set up , pushing the arm in ( hard against a spring at the bottom of the hole ) and rotating 45 degrees released the arm.

Thanks Skip426

Thanks for that information Skip426! I’ll sure give that a try.

My new switch with the lever is coming by FedEX Monday. I did plug in the previous switch Kevin sent a year ago and all turn signals & flasher work as they should now. It’s just a matter of swapping out the lever to keep cruise control in place as usual.

I sure appreciate the members here for the years & years of valuable information and the willingness to share their experiences and knowledge.

Thanks again

Are the marks in the yellow circle a removal diagram , or just scratches?

I didn't notice them till I blew the picture way up.

Just Scratches, Skip & no luck with the push & twist

Thanks for looking closer! Those are scratches from vise grips.

Kevin told me at first he thought the handle unscrewed from the turn signal switch. Which wasn’t the case.

I tried for quite some time to push & twist but didn’t have any luck. I may end up cutting the old handle with a dremel tool & then get a coupler of some sort with set screws to attach to the handle of new switch when it arrives.
