Age of Air Bag replacement?

Countryfit just had a thread going about his front end, and mentioned he had surface cracks in his airbags, and was thinking he'd have them replaced.

How about it? What age have others found they've needed to replace an air bag?

My coach is a 2004, built in Sept of 2003, and my bags do show some surface cracking. Especially when fully extended for say an tough leveling of the coach.

I've had no problems with the air bags, but wondering how long the seem to last? And, if it is an item that should be proactively replaced to avoid a failure.

Figured many of you with older coaches may have been thru this before?

Thanks for info sharing,
Smitty

hey smitty, glad you caught my post on that
there was another member at class a forum shared his experience with airbags. he wrote it up very much in details. in case you have not read it, here you go Mile Markers-Boggs Blogs: The BoggsMobile - Air Bags, Brake Chambers and Norgren Valves.

however in my chassis manual, it states you can drive to service stations in case airbags are failed on the road.

My coach is 20 years old, and the only reason I had to replace one airbag was because a shredded tire tore it up.

My Kenworth had a million miles on it with no bag failure. I know none were replaced and it ran very extreme cold and hot temps and sometimes very overloaded with permitted loads.

Hope I do not jinx myself, but 19+ years, and 95,000 miles and still original.
