Anti-Freeze issue-Losing but no sign of leaks
I have a 2000 Country Coach Allure 36ft with the 330 ISC Cummings engine. I have only had it one season and made one big trip 2000 miles back and forth to Michigan. I had it serviced before I left oil change and all other check included and didn't really have any issues until I blew a power-steering hose about 40 miles from home. I had 2 occasions where the engine shut off and I had to add antifreeze. I'm no mechanic but doesn't seem right. I see no noticeable leaks on the ground and it starts and runs fine.
Can anyone give me some direction to start in, I only have 79000 miles and want to have this Motor-home for many years. Thanks

First thing I would do is a pressure test on the cooling system. Found this less expensive tester on e-bay:

Lot less expensive than asking a shop to use their very same tool to do the very same thing.

Check your oil to see if it’s milky. Sign of a blown head gasket.

A lot of white smoke? How much coolant did you add?

Had the same problem until I changed the radiator cap. The original was a 7 pound and I went to a 10 pound cap

I had the same problem.
Tech who changed the coolant did not "burp" the system so coolant was lost through the overflow slowly.
Instructions for bleeding the system were on the coolant reserve tank on my rig or in my manual.

Might try replacing the coolant cap and see if that fixes it... Our old Winnie, that would happen and all it needed was a new cap.

How much coolant did you lose? If you're losing enough that the engine shut down from low coolant or overheat with no visible drips I would guess something major is wrong, unless, of course, you drove five or six thousand miles.

Check those places: a hose connector at the back of coolant reservoir; coolant circulating pump connections; and the air vent inside the hydronic bay.
If none of those, as above said, check if oil is milky, hopefully not.

I have had an intermittent problem when the coolant level will go down low enough the illuminate the stop engine light. I have never had a heating problem or other symptom of a serious coolant problem.
I got under the motorhome to examine any source of a coolant leak. I finally saw a drop of coolant fall as I was under there. The source of the leak was from the coolant filter adaptor. There is a shutoff valve on the adaptor to turn the flow of coolant to the filter off while changing the filter. The valve is made of plastic that has two or three O rings to seal the shaft of the valve. The O rings wear out or harden, allowing coolant to drip.
It is not a leak, but truly a "drip" that sometimes leaves a dot on the ground about the size of a quarter or less. It does not always leak and takes months to loose enough coolant to cause the light to come on.
I have all of the parts to replace the shut off valve and O rings when I change coolant .

The 7lb cap is the original equipment pressure when new.
I'm curious how a increasing the cap pressure from 7lb to 10lb can fix a leak. The tank is quite large and would not normally have coolant up to the filler neck.
