Well whichever engine it has the Onan QD series manual describes the various fault scenarios. High temp fault (code 1); low oil pressure fault (code 2), low oil pressure switch fault (code23); coolant temperature sender fault (code24); a high coolant temp fault (code 33). But there is no error code or shut down that I could find relative to oil level.

I would chase things other than oil level.

I doubt the oil over full theory. Something else is stopping it. Overheat and low oil will stop most generators but over full? Curious if that is a possibility?

Can't say for all cases, but mine was just serviced by Cummins, and would repeatedly start, but not keep running for more than 20 seconds until after I drained ~1 pint of oil (enough to bring it below the full mark on the dipstick) after which everything is fine (thank God for this forum and the advice, because it saved our trip!)
