Battery relay 2007 tribute cc

Newbie looking for help thank you in advance, seems as though when driving down the road it seems as though the alternator is putting out 14 V however it seems as though the inverter is actually drawing power and has caused the chassis battery to go dead after we arrived at our storage location if anybody knew where the relay is for when you are plugged into shore power the transfer switch kicks over and the batteries will charge off of the house battery my battery booster switch will not work as well to start coach so it seems to me that the relay between the house and starter battery may be bad? I’m thinking because the battery boost will not light or actually boast the chassis battery any insights would be great
Thank you
Dave

The boost solenoid is typically located in the battery bay. It is connected when engine oil pressure switch is closed (engine running), and when you manually close with the boost switch. It is simple to test with a volt meter.

Your chassis batteries should be connected to the same side as the alternator, so should charge independent of boost solenoid operation. There is a charge follower, typically Xantrex Echo charger that charges chassis batteries from house charger system while connected to shore power. Check the operation of the Echo charger (if original from factory). Link to manual.

Here are a few pics of my boost solenoid, 2007 Allure. Model number EV200AAANA

My Xantrex echo charger went out about 7 years ago so I installed a Magnum Combiner, works great. When installing I placed it where I could see it. There should be 2 inline fuses, check to see if they are ok. They are in the yellow fuse holders in the first picture.

I have a Tribute too.

Here is how the system works. When you plug in the magnum charger charges the house battery and trickle charges the chassis/starter battery. That charger is the Xantrex echo pictured in a previous post. You can check this by using a voltmeter and seeing the voltage rise on the starter battery when you plug in.

When you drive there is a oil pressure sensor on the engine and that closes the boost relay. The boost relay is located above the starter battery on the wall to the right. You can identify it by having another person press the boost switch while the engine is off, you will hear it click and you could feel it if you touch it.

To make sure it works when the engine is running you will see the voltage on the house battery rise above 13 volts. You could also feel it click when you start the engine. If no click then the oil sensor or wire is bad. Or the relay is bad. Sometimes the contacts go bad and it clicks but there is no connection.

The inverter is always drawing power because they wired it directly to the battery. Even when off it draws about 150ma. There are other things that will draw power when you think they are off so making sure the batteries are charging is real important.

I have done extensive work on my Tribute. You should know about a fire hazard I discovered and a factory wiring error that will draw down the battery. Feel free to send me a message with your number and I will call you.
