I had the same blocked/plugged black tank flush sprayer on my coach when we first bought it (used). The problem turned out not to be the check valve, but was that the spray nozzle itself was plugged. Using CLR did not open it up. So, we replaced the spray nozzles and that fixed our system. Since your CLR application apparently drained into the tank your spray nozzle fitting might not be fully plugged, but you might check it anyway. We found ours were pretty easy to access.

Well after some time to think it through, watching and understanding fully how the check valve was responding to what was happening, I think I figured it out. I went to the local big box hardware and purchased a 1/2" to 3/4' adapter that I could screw into the existing connector and then placed the hose of my wet/dry vacuum flush to the adapter and sucked the blockage loose and out. It appeared to be a couple pieces of the black rubber gasket from the original check valve that may have been pushed through and settled into the spray head. Put it all back together and boom its working! The sound of the water hitting the inside walls of the black tank was like music to my ears!!! Sensors cleared and some nasty stuff finally cleaned from the bottom.

Really want to thank everyone for the good advice on this challenging issue that has been solved. I am now armed with some knowledge and the hardware if the problem arises again.

Thanks for posting the final solution to your problem. It is good that you have a solution.

Those shopvacs can be a great solution, especially because they can both blow and suck with some force.
