Blink Code Switch

I have a toggle switch [Blinkcode] in the compartment below driver that has a "lighted" stem that appears non-functional possibly due to elements where mounted.

I did find it on my drawing and its goes to the ABS Blink Relay. I can't tell if it should be an OFF/On or momentary contact type.

What is the purpose of the switch?

Dennis not by the coach for a few days so cannot check ours
On another note looks like you have good numbers showing on yours
Use your phone or camera and take a picture and zoom in to read then do a search

The switch is a momentary so you can troubleshoot the ABS braking system. With power on, depress the switch and release. The lighted toggle will begin to blink a number of times, pause, then blink some more, pause, blink some more, etc. Record the blink codes and refer to the chart to figure out what is wrong.

I think I have the blinky code chart somewhere and will post when and if I find it.

Dennis should have asked is your ABS light on and that is the reason?
I found a post at another site that discusses resetting codes:

Here is the proper way to clear the fault code, if the fault code isnt active.
Turn the ignition to the on position (dont start the coach, just turn the key to the first position) There is an ABS blink code switch in the D/S front compartment just in front of the D/S front tire. Push it down/up for 3 seconds and then release it. You should hear a relay click 8 times and the light in the switch will flash simultaneously with the relay. If the relay and the light do not indicate 8 clicks and flashes then the reset did not work, try it again. If it worked the next step is to shut the door, turn the ignition to the off position, start the coach and drive over 15 mph. If the ABS light goes off then it worked. If not then there is still an active code. Keep in mind the ABS brain stores more than just one code at a time so the tag axle code may have just been one of 5...maybe

So it seems the switch is a momentary one

Greg,

Thanks for your response. No ABS light on just trying to 'fix' issues with coach as I come across them. Th switch does not toggle up or down that I can feel as I believe road grime over the last 20 years has probably taken its toll.

Trying to find a replacement and the markings on the switch are Mexico 12 volt and what appears to be manufacturer Carling 0019

Dennis,

I will not be around the coach until Thursday will take a look at ours

This may be a replacement looks to be 4 blade momentary lighted toggle, how many on yours?

http://www.nwrvsupply.com/product/9819.html

Northwest RV has a lot of RV/CC parts and are very helpful located give em a call and see if they can confirm its a good replacement part

Greg,

Thanks, I took a look at the site and while they don't have a 0019 switch they have a 9931 and a 0007 which are both dual momentary like mine. The difference is mine is green/clear and these are green/red. I can live with that and the price is very inexpensive.

When I purchased my coach, that toggle was broken. I tried unsuccessfully to obtain a replacement anywhere. Never could contact Premier in Oregon but was in touch with toggle switch sells rep who sent me a free replacement, but unfortunately was wrong for the application. I would up getting one from Vision RV parts (Paid an embarrassing amount for it, but I got it!)

Good luck with your search, wish I could be of more help.

I did get the green/red one from nwrvsupply and at $4.00 they are inexpensive. I asked if they can procure the correct -0019 switch [green/clear] and they said to give them a few days and they'll see what they can do.

Shipping costs more than the switch.

Ozzsp250 word of caution, When searching for a replacement for my switch, I had one of the marine electricians at work help me work out the circuitry of the switch and they are more than a simple momentary switch. Make CERTAIN that the switch they send you is a correct replacement for what you have or it could effect the ABS. I was very concerned with causing a problem they would be $$$$$ to repair.

Side note: Have you tried spraying contact cleaner into your current switch to see if it will free up? Would not take much grit to keep it from working or stopping the throw.

Good Call Dfuelman
Where did you end up getting a switch at?

Seems NWRVSUPPLY is looking into this. Hopefully a call into Carling?

Lets us know Dennis

Got a response from NWRVsupply and they found out Carling no longer produce the -0019 switch.

I have sprayed the existing and will give the cleaner a chance to work. I'll check the new ones with multi-meter Vs the old one once I received them.
