After 2 years of reading, listening, Boot Camp, etc., my wife and I are ready to buy a well-maintained, updated, high-end used coach which will be used for full-timing.

I'm hoping to get your help identifying which models are likely good fits, and hopefully advising me on coaches which may soon be available. Trying to stay under $150K.

Our "wants" include: 40ft or more, tag axle, larger gallery for in-house cooking, sleeps 4.

Any guidance week be greatly appreciated.

BEAVER, CC, Foretravel, and high end Monaco are on my short list.

My 2 cents: 2006-2007 Beaver Patriot Thunder; you get the big C-13 Cat (and the resulting 5.5 mpg!!)
Ours is a 40' tag, its the Lexington model, 3 slides, and shorter wheel base than 42' and longer. Turns on a dime! (or "Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around!)

If going 40', then an advantage of jumping to 42-43' is you regain about 1/2 bay of basement storage in most coaches. And very few places won't also hold a 42-43' coach, that will hold a 40'. (Yes, for sure some - but not many

!).

I would shop for coaches with BIG BLOCK engines (CAT C12 or larger, Cummins ISM/ISX (Research ISX years to be caustics about. Search on Mr D's threads under cummins on his 'opportunity for fun with a very narrow model years of some ISX's.), Detroit's BIG BLOCK too

!).... Not necessarily to climb a hill faster, but yep you can do that too, but more for the higher Braking Horse Power the BIG BLOCK's Compression Jakes provide.

Or on Foretravel, the retarder transmissions are pretty sweet too

You did not mention Newmar. And they do have the Comfort Steer, which can be an added benefit for traveling in heavy shifting winds. I personally like the Mountain Aire in their lineup. But models are such a personal choice.

You may want to check out an older Prevost. Properly maintained they are pretty much bullet-proof, and quality is far above anything else you can look at. You have a lot more options on where to service the coach, and parts are easily available.

Thank you! Still working my way though the pain and loneliness but am taking weekend trips now with the seven cats along.

I've witnessed Mr D walking his cats on a leash and seen them in their out-the-coach-window sun rooms.
