Cat C-9 Engine (?) leak
Noticed a fairly good leak in rear of coach, running down from where drain plug is underneath....seams to leak when first started and then once going, almost stops. Is thin and appears to be fuel leaking from above.
Anyone had this issue?

I'm sorry I can't help you very much with a C9. Hope someone else jumps in... You might also post this on Powertrain Garage's CAT section of IRV2. (Or, ask the Moderator to move it for you?).
Best of luck, leaking fuel is usually not an enhancement to either safe traveling, and or MPG !

the c9 has a nylon fuel line that comes from the tank and mounts to the top of the bellhousing in a bracket that transitions to conventional hose. I would be suspicious of that connection if nothing else to confirm its sound. May have to remove the hatch to see it.

Been there, the fuel is coming from the fuel pressure regulator. Country Coach used an air push on type of fitting where the plastic line runs back to the fuel tank. To save some dollars, I removed the mirrors and track, then removed all the bolts holding the lid down the took it into Peterson Cat in Portland and they replaced it with a compression style fitting. I figured with my luck I would crack the plastic line.
Check the you tube, it's the first thing he talks about.

More correctly...
.....leak was the fitting on plastic line to fuel regulator. Replaced fitting and regulator.

I think we have the same leak, i had to remove the engine cover in our coach to get a better observation from above, a small fuel line going in the rear of the engine that has a quick connect fitting was leaking, you really have to lean over to the right side and look very close using a flashlight...good luck I'm still working on mine

Though it is a press in fitting its not designed to be removed and reinstalled multiple times. My recommendation is to have a short braided high pressure fuel line made to go from the elbow so it provides isolation. Its not a good idea to connect nylon lines directly to the engine since they wear do to the slack in the fitting.remove the fitting, connect the hose then using a new fitting connect the nylon and zip tie solidly to the coach framework.Good forever.

Thank you for the suggestion on how to repair the fuel leak, how do you remove or disconnect the connection, do i need a special tool for this and what should i have on hand before i start to disassemble this line? Thanks In advance, clydeman

you use an open end wrench that will fit over tube then push toward the fitting while pushing in the tube. There are little barbs holding the tube in place with an o ring seal. The small brass ring on the fitting when pushed in releases the barbs. You might cut an inch or so the nylon and take with you to the shop along with the fitting and have them make you a little kit.Dont cut the nylon with wire cutters. use a sharp razer knife. we dont want to crimp the tube. Easy job. more work getting the lid off then making the repair. These fuel lines scare me the way they hooked up. Likely to always fail and spray hot diesel all over the engine.
