Coach start issue

Hey folks,

Yeah another thing I was hoping for some “been there, done that” guidance. On a trip this past couple days and coach wouldn’t start when turning the key. First I removed the key switch and the terminals tested as they should with 12v out to starting circuit. From there checked all ignition related fuses in chassis boxes, all good, starter solenoid CB not tripped, starter interlock in front run box not sure of yet. One 30A atc style fuse on Cummins board was smoked, but apparently made no difference after replacing, tried after replacing fuse…nothing, getting a little discouraged at this point and ready to move on to the next thing, tried to start again and fired right up. Did this twice in a couple days. Now home and nothing again. Looking at wiring prints I keep thinking interlock relay? Buy why the damn intermittent problem of starting? The worst kind of problem. All cables are snug also. Thanks for listening.

Take it easy,

Stone

Do other items that only work with the ignition on work:

Allison shift pad illuminate and in "N"?

Dash HVAC fan?

Yes, all 12v accessories from key switch term. work, scratching head, seems like a bad connection huh? Maybe on starter solenoid? But to start with out jiggling any wires..lol…. tech talk.

Wound up being a stuck solenoid, rapped on it with a small hammer and fired right up. The coach had been sitting for long periods of time before I purchased it but to just start acting up is a little odd, seems it could be going belly up.

For anybody else facing the same issue, in the engine compartment is a yellow box with a red emergency button to turn off the engine. A friend had the same symptoms and it was a loose wire in that yellow box. I also had the problem of the engine not starting after work had been done in the engine compartment it turned out the shop accidentally hit that red button. Not intermittent it kills the engine until you pull it out
