Angry colorado carefree electric awning

Can anyone tell me how to remove the motor cover from a Colorado Carefree electric door awning. I was told you have to break it off. It looks to be a sealed unit. Colorado Carefree awning company wants $265.00 for the motor and end cap. They will not sell you a replacement cap unless you buy the whole unit.
It appears that the cap is $265.00 and they throw the motor in for free.
Any ideas?
The awning is on a 2006 Country Coach Allure.

carefree will only sell the complete end (housing, motor, etc.) We had to do this for our Itasca Navion when the motor stopped working. If you do replace the end, it is very quick and easy to do.

You can remove and disect the motor and housing but it may not do you any good unless you can repair the problem without new parts.

Our Carefree was an Eclipse model. I have no hands on knowledge of other models.

Looks like you might save a little on eBay if you are looking for the Marquee awning part number R001531.
