I’m looking for a Detroit diesel mechanic in South Florida to perform an inspection on our coach and do a oil change and chassis service. Do you know of a trusted mechanic for our 1995 Country Coach Concept? I want to make sure the coach is ready before we take it on the road.
I forgot to add I have a problem with the dash a/c, probably a freon leak. The oil was last changed at 78,390 miles in June 2019. It now has 80,000 miles. Is it more important to have the oil changed based on mileage or time between oil change?

Look for a certified MTU shop, then ask if they have a 2 stroke specialist. If they say they are all Detroits, Run

Yup, need to know if this a DD two stroke or 60 series 4 stroke.

The good news if you have the 2 stroke (8V92 for example) is that they are popular engines in larger boats. So many marine techs are familiar with them.

I would prioritize changing oil based on mileage unless you know it sat for several years. I know you already are aware, but use straight 40 weight low ash only (CF2 low ash, <1%). Easiest to find is usually Chevron Delo 100 (SAE40). Don’t let someone sell you Delo 400 by mistake or anything else like ROTELLA. Spend the $28 to send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs or other oil analysis company. Blackstone is most likely the company used by the previous owner for the analysis they provided you prior to purchase. They will keep a running trend analysis for you which can identify developing issues before they become really expensive. Having the lab results are also great for peace of mind. Consider also having the main engine coolant tested as well as the generator oil when you perform the oil change on the genset.
