I'm not 100% sure that the 4 button will control any newer A/C units .
I do know that if I have to replace my 4 button , with the newer 5 button model changing the control boards in the A/C units is required.

I'll see if there is any info on your problem in any of the posts on replacing the 4 button t'stats.

EDIT: Here's a post on the 4 button t'stats and some links that may be helpful.

Last update was a number of years back but hopefully the links work.

Call PPL motorhome parts dept. they are pretty good. Tell them what you did and what you have.
I think your going to need a new board 3313107.107 and thermostate 3314082.011. Then not sure about the old a/c's

Please keep us informed of your outcomes. I will likely be in the same boat this fall. During a storm this Spring my cover blew off and everything was drenched. The rig is stored (indoors) for now but when I pick it up this fall I am expecting to need a new unit.

I think if I remember right, you can take your control board out of your old A/C and put it in the new A/C, and it should work as before?
The only other way would be to run a separate thermostat for your new A/C.
I would call PPL parts department to confirm for sure!
Your old A/C's are not compatible with the new 5 button thermostat without changing the control boards! Hope this helps, but for sure call the guys at PPL, as they are pretty sharp! Rail!

We had a replace a air conditioner unit after replacement it did not run. It was discovered that it was not the number 1 air conditioner (default) but number 2. Changed the setting and it worked.
