Electric Toilet Won't Flush

We had a shore power fail and our inverter took over the load, which we didn't notice, until it shut down as the load was to great for it to service.

Shore power came back on and i tripped the breaker back on, the inverter went to work charging the house batteries, and all was good until i tried to flush my electric toilet.

I can hear a relay activating when i push the flush button but I get water but the valve doesn't open.

Does any one have any insight on this problem?

The electric toilet is 12 volt and shouldn't be effected by the shore power 110/220 on and off. If you have low batteries or poor connections that could be part of the problem.

What brand of electric toilet?

On my Microphor LF-220, the flapper cam is a common failure item.

Electric Toilet Won't flush

Solved the problem, First our toilet is a Thetford Ariana.

The problem was caused by our battery bank being drawn down to a low voltage by the inverter as it struggled to run the house when the shore power went out.

We called Thetford and the suggestion was made to turn off the DC power. We did so and left the DC power off for 30 seconds. Turned the house DC power back on and the toilet now functions normally.

When this happened to us, I unplugged the fuse connection to the toilet (in line) and plugged it back in. It then would flush. But good to know this solution.
