Engine access & engine temp
I lost a water pump in Memphis and had it replaced in a parking lot by 2 technicians...and I could not get to the engine via the bedroom floor. Could not figure out how to open the 2 compartments in the bedroom - one on the step and one in the closet. Help!
Also, what engine water temp should I expect to be running at? I had a new t-stat put in, but I’m guessing that it was not faulty. It wont even get up to 160 degrees. Make sense?
Thanks in advance!

What do the latches for hatches look like?
On our's there is a phillips head screw that you turn counter clockwise a 1/4 turn then push on the latch and it pops open.

160F seems low, however do you know the specs on your new thermostat? It may be a 160 set to open, vs the 180F in my ISL. When I replaced my thermostat coolant temp reads near 180, up to 190 climbing hills.

Hi John,
I have 2003 Intrigue with the Bedroom slide. The motor cover is a two part cover. I have to remove the carpet in the closet. To get the carpet out, I have to remove the safe, both sliding closet doors and lower track for the doors. PM me and I’ll give you my phone number to go over all details.
Your engine temp is to low. Either a bad thermostat, bad fan controller or both.
Bill

Thanks to all for your replies. The engine temp does seem low...and I'm guessing it may be the wrong t-stat that was just installed or the controller fan may be bad? I'll call the tech in the AM that put it in.
I don't see any latches. The entire floor, step and closet are covered with carpet. However, you can see a slight outline of what must be a hatch or cover that would allow access to the engine. I'll try and find a phillips head screw and try to do the 1/4 turn...but I don't know how I'd lift it out!
Again, thank you all! I'm grateful!

The T-stat should be 185 according to a friend that is a certified Cummins tech.
Regarding the 160 temp, what were the conditions where you got the 160? Were you trying to get to operating temp using high idle? It won't happen.
Were you driving and how far did you drive? What was the ambient temp?
In 40 degree weather, it will take me 50 to 100 miles depending on engine load before I see 180

Thanks Don for that great information. I left it idle for 45 mins. - obviously did not come to temp. Drove it home from shop - 20 miles @ 15 degrees - that did not achieve operating temp. I was just trying to get some dash heat when we drive....that is the root motivator. We are getting no dash heat at all. I talked with another irv2 member and he suggested a couple of ideas to track down why we are not getting any.
Will keep you guys posted!
Thanks again to all!
John

John, the fine outline in the carpet you see is covering the hatch door in the floor. In my Allure, that rectangle of carpet is held on to the top of the hatch with some Velcro. Just get under the edge of that piece of carpet with a putty knife and you can pull it off the hatch door. That will reveal the door with several bolts, once removed, will allow you to lift the door and expose top of engine.
I do have to remove the two sliding rear closet doors and the door track on the floor before opening the hatch. I also have to lift the bed.

Appreciate the info...that seems to be my setup exactly! I’ll be sure and give it a try!
