Engine oil top off tank system
Manual is vague.
Do I need to do something special to make this work on CAT C13 (besides activating switch)?
Does engine need to be running?
Ours seems broke and I havent yet looked at diagram in manual..
TIA
Ch

What is your problem? Does the pump run when you flip the switch? If it does, have you checked for a cutoff valve either after the tank or after the pump?

Is this just to ADD oil (like on many of the old Detroit Diesel 2 strokes
OR
Is this a pre-lube system to pressurize oil galleys before starting the engine?

On my '09 CC Magna it's just to add oil to the engine crankcase. Two gallon reservoir and a pump to manually add oil when low.

@wolfe10
This above. CAT C13
2 gallon tank "Add Oil" system (8 quarts actually). No pumps run when I push the switch down as far as I can tell...No pump whirring, no decrease of oil in the sight glass..No blown fuses in run box or house that I have found yet..
Was just wondering if I need to have the engine running or if I'm doing something wrong or something else...
Manual just says push switch and watch add amount via glass.
Those of you who use this system please chime in on what I should be expecting based upon your use.
Ch

I have a similar system on my 94 Affinity. If the pump isn’t turning on then I would start by checking power at the switch and the pump. It should work without anything running. You wouldn’t want to fill the crank case on a running engine as you have no way of accurately monitoring the fill level. My bet is a blown fuse in the circuit.

Tracing the wires I found a broke one underneath the coach. I reckon that's the culprit.....at least that's where I will start..

I will add a related question as it relates to blown fuses.
In my driver's side run box I have blade type fuses that have been replaced with some kind of self healing fuses (right side)? and maybe also what look like mini relays (left side)?
My gut tells me this was not OEM...For brevity I have attached photos as is and the backside of the fuse box cover. Relay types look to be in spot 9, 11 and 13.
What are all of you folks doing and can I swap these out for blade type fuses so its easier to test them with a test light?

Those are auto reset relays. They are OEM on my coach.

Get rid of those self resetting "fuses".
Fire starters is what we called them back in the day...
Yes, you can replace them with a standard ATC blade fuse.

Ours on a 1998 Concept you can hear pump when switch is activated.
I left valve open at bottom by accident and about 1 and 1/2 gallons drained into motor. Do not forget to shut valve when done pumping.
