Entry door noise while underway

Have a issue with our 2000 Intrigue. While underway we get a chirping noise coming from the latch side of the door. Also maybe related is the door pops open if the deadbolt isn't latched.

Anyone out there have this problem?

The only way we found to stop this is to put a shim between the screen door and the frame.

Chirping doors were a common problem on Newmar units, but I'm not sure whether it was gas, diesel or both types. Our 2012 Bay Star (gas F53 chassis) has the problem. The cure is to always fully lock the door with the deadbolt as it pulls the door in tighter and putting some vinyl tape on the metal post for the latch eliminates any noise. The tape has to be periodically replaced.

I'll try the tape trick, yes we learned the hard way to lock the dead bolt. The door swung open one time and scared the better half to the point she wouldn't ride in the passenger seat for a few trips.
I do also hear wind noise along with chirping so I'm thinking the latch needs adjusting too or new weather stripping installed.

Thank you for the reply I let you know the results.

It is a pain, I have fiddled with ours many times. Basically, you might need a new door gasket

Adjusting the door striker stopped my door from whistling. Doing this you will need to slam the door ,if you don’t close it enough it will have a tendency too open in route. Always use the dead bolt an opening door is a bummer.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions

I taped both screws that slide into the door latches and it did help, but it still has a chirping noise along with what sounds like wind coming through a cracked window.
I did Isolated the area where its coming from and its a section of the door a foot above the latch.
So I think my next step is to replace the door seal. Problem is, I not sure if its the one attached to the door or the one attached to the frame. I probally replace both.

Does someone know where to get the proper replacement seals?

I did adjust the striker plate and the door doesn't pop open now, so thank you for the idea.

Spray some white lithium grease on the door strike and latch mechanism. Mine was doing the same thing and it quieted everything down. A good friend with the same issue tried it and worked on his CC too.

Squeaks can be annoying, but there's a lot of tricks to stop them. Lubricant of some kind works in a lot of situations, rubber dots, velcro or just tightening a screw here or there. Our last rig was a whole orchestra warming up as it went down the road initially. We used some stick on foam insulation and some cork to quiet the door.

Thank You

Thanks everyone for your tips, tricks and solutions to my entry door noise.

I think I finally have it fixed.

I purchased a length of 1/2 inch rubber weather stripping and attached it to the inside of the door along the existing door molding. Tried it out and so far no more noisy door. We will see how long this works but so far a cheap fix.

How I found the problem was I ran a level along the door, and noticed it had uneven spots that were causing the air to leak through.

I'm guessing like us over 20 years of use caused it to get out of shape.

So, Again thank you all for your help!!

I added the same weather stripping and noticed that if I would close the screen door first and then shut my door, it was a huge difference.
