Door switches for steps

Amongst the weak link for the steps is those really cheap door switches with the super thin wiring. And then at some point you replace the steps, or the controller and you find you need a switch with reverse logic. I added quick slide connectors so if needed I can jump the switch out to get the steps out while camping and disconnect to get them back in.

I solved the problem. Installed a Kwikee magnetic door switch which is what the step controller was designed for.

My step function was sporadic at coming in or out. A switch on the bottom of the door jam was not getting pushed in far enough to tell the step the door is closed. Taping on a small nut fixed the problem. Similar situation with step coming out. End of dor jam switch can hang up or be slow about coming out causing step to stay in. Fiddle with the door jam switch with the door open. Stand clear of the steps as they may go in or out as you mess with the door jam switch. The door is supposed to have a plastic button that pushes in the switch but with age the plastic has been broken. Also check ground connections or clean ground connections. Some lines to motors like step or step cover may have an inline fuse that might have become rusty or damaged causing intermittent operation. Change to a new fuse.
