Fantastic Fans vs Maxxair Fans
One of my Fantastic Fans has bit the dust and I'm thinking about changing to a Maxxfan Deluxe, has anyone had any experience with these. In my particular Allure there isn't a separate Fantastic Fan panel on the cabinets to control the fan speed or the opening, so the new remote of the Maxxfan would be a plus.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Some Fantastic Fan models have wireless remotes too.

Graeme, I don't have long term experience, but I did just install a Maxxfan Deluxe in my TT and used it on a week long trip. It worked great. Both my wife and I are vertically challenged so having a remote sure made it nice. The fan is very quiet and provides very good circulation with the bathroom vent open. Here are a couple pictures of my install. It took me a total of about 4 hours to remove the old vent, prepare the roof area and install the Maxxfan.

Maxx is quieter. Also inherently rain proof, it can remain open in the rain. I've had both and prefer the Maxxfan.

wfalch - I believe they were standard equipment on the 470 models but not on 430 which I have.
Mr_D - I’ve seen the upgrade kits that are available, my original thought was to use one of these kits which looks like it would be fairly easy to install and it would also give me the remote capability. I also looked into purchasing one of the old Fantastic wall panel remotes but running wires up through the wall and across the roof to the vent wouldn’t be a small job.
Fred - Thanks for the post and the pictures that’s exactly what I was hoping for. I noticed you’ve got some AM Solar mounts on your solar panel and possibly one of their junction boxes as well, I’m waiting for some more of their mounts to install another panel on my roof this weekend. The lower profile of the Maxxfan, when it’s raised, would be a plus for my next panel’s location as it will be shorter than my fan mate cover and not create the occasional shade problem.
Finance - Thanks, good to hear it’s quieter and that you’ve had both. Even with the Fantastic Fan on it’s lowest speed I always thought it was a tad bit loud.

Learn something every day, and scratch my head at some of the CC logic.

I've installed two in two different RVs, and agree with everything that was said here. Had the first one for about two years with no issues. The current one is about 6 months old and is also issue-free.
I particularly like being able to set a temperature at which it automatically comes on. That helps keep things a bit fresher in the coach.

Thanks everyone, it seems like a no brainer to change over both fans.

Our MH came with one Maxx air fan and a wimpy bathroom fan and vent only in bedroom area. Since Fantastic Fans are so easy to install and so much less expensive, my husband replaced the wimpy bathroom fan and put one in the vent only site of the bedroom. However, the Maxx Air fan is nearly silent and the Fantastic Fans are pretty loud, not only louder, high pitched and very annoying at higher speeds. We wish we would have opted for 2 more Maxx Airs.
However the Fantastic Fan blows in or out and the Maxx air only goes out.

Our 04 Allure, built Sept 2003, had the two standard Fantastic Fans. Both performed well for us.
I added the Maxx Cover that would worked with he Fantastic - on the front unit, in our coach over the galley.
I did not put one on the rear fan, which was over the Water Closet across from the Shower and Bathroom Sink, our coach. The reason for not putting the Maxx Cover over the Fantastic, was because of solar. (As mentioned in earlier posts, the solar shading is always something to be guarded !
The solar panels in that section, X's 4, are on the Passenger side, and via a raised rail residential rack, spanner the top of the shower Solar Dome. Real cuts down on Solar Gain, as the panels shade the dome. And significantly quitter during rain/hail storms ! Potentially, it's slightly warmer during cold spells too. (Though on real cold extremes, we do use shower curtain rods in the dome, with insulation, to help from the cold.).
I decided to add the MaxxFan in the water closet (Driver's side.) as I wanted to have the 'reverse fan' capability, to help pull cool air in at night while sleeping. The real bonus is with the fan closed, zero problems with shading of the solar panels. And even with the fan running, and in up position, it's a smaller overall shadow impact potential, then teh 'fixed' Maxx Cover over the Fantastic would have been.
Our first full year of travel with it, so sort of early to say how well it holds up. But so far, we like the remote, the reversible fan, and no problems so far !
And, I'll share that the only time I called Fantastic Fan for help, even under the not so new ownership - they were very helpful.
So, no complaints with either !
Best,
Smitty

Maxxfan trouble
We have the 4 speed Maxxfan that came standard in our 2017 Vista. I'm on my second circuit board that controls the speeds when you push the button and this second one just quit. Worked two days.
Is the Deluxe much better? I sure hope so. Any troubles out there?
