Thanks for the explanation. I am a little concerned about what effect a harsh chemical might have on seals, but if more "junk" comes out, I'll give it try.

It's a bacterial formulation, not chemicals in the sense I think you mean. More info here: https://www.roebic.com/k57-septic-system-cleaner.shtml

I suspect, but don't know, that Happy Camper is similar.

From reading the Happy Camper's instructions, I am less sure that it's a bacterial formulation like the Roebic. Roebic K-57 doesn't require any agitation, just time. The directions for use in a septic system say to give it 24 hours, but to be sure we gave it three full days. We have a transparent elbow on our dump hose, and I could see no chunks at all when I dumped. Everything had been digested and liquified by the bacteria. No solids got flushed out with the tank sprayer afterward, either.

I have no basis for comparison, though, since I never tried the Happy Camper stuff.

Whatever you decide, good luck!

Again, thanks for your research. Another poster recommended a product made by Unique which is specifically for RV tank clean outs and is sold through Amazon for about the same price. I will give that a try first. The bottom of the tank and the blade valve (left in the half open position) have been soaking in a double shot of AquaKem throw in deodorizers for the past 2 days. Tomorrow I'll empty it out and check to see if the valve still leaks. Thank you and the other kind folks who posted to this thread.

Since it's another bacteria formulation (with enzymes, too!), I expect it will probably work just as well. Please let us all know.
