Forward Slide problem

Hoping for advice on my front slide problem. I have a "train style slide" system and when the front slide is approximately 5" from full extension the forward end jumps up and thus tips the top end inboard . It appears that as the ceramic tile ends there is a carpet strip between it and the exterior wall that has come loose and as the slide extends the carpet rolls up and the slide trys to ride over it.
I removed the sofa, it exposed a carpeted platform, removed carpet which exposed 1/2" plywood cover. I removed the plywood cover which exposed polystyrene panels. lifting these out exposes sheet metal metal and thus no access to the floor below from the top (inside of coach). The underside of the slide when viewed externally is a flat sheet metal panel with no observed fasteners.

I took some photos viewing the carpet but I can't remove it by hand.

Any advice on exposing it from above or methods to remove it would be greatly appreciated.

Follow up I was able to remove the forward lower hydraulic cylinder and give me enough room to get the remaining carpet out. I still have an issue but don't know if it's a synchronizing issue at this time or something else. Weather has deteriorated so will put what I can back together and continue saga later.

I have found the reason for the top of slide tipping.

The upper track has a roller missing and bent pin. Not sure what is replaceable or the degree of difficulty at this stage. However it makes sense as to the issue, don't know what or when the issue occurred.

Looks like much labor has been involved... Glad you found out the cause at the end .

Finding replacement parts is proving to be a problem.

Only need 1 pin, 2 roller and 2 snap rings but the Roller Replacement Kit RAP90826 is an issue. HWH as Ive heard are slow so it will take patience for sure.

Photo shows roller on the lower end on pin but it was the one missing.

The pin looks pretty basic as does the roller (at least in your picture) If the roller is just a solid roller, I would take good one and a good pin if you can get one out to a local machine shop and see if they can make them up for you. They do not look like they are complicated and could be possible replicated as cheaply as they can be bought.

dfuelman [Ron]

I was think the same thing :- pin is 2" x .25" and rollers are actually bearings .75" OD x .25" ID and .3" wide, although one side is conical. If a shoulder bolt could be used to replace pin with nut or snap ring to retain second roller it maybe a good option.

Answer from HWH below:

TS27333
$12.73 BEFORE SHIPPING
I HAVE IT STOCK
RAP90826
$49.61 BEFORE SHIPPING
I DO NOT HAVE THEM IN STOCK AT THIS TIME
RAP90863
$102.25 BEFORE SHIPPING
I DO NOT HAVE THIS IN STOCK EITHER
WE WILL HAVE TO BUILD THE KITS THEN SHIP THEM
I DO NOT HAVE A ETA ON HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO DO

THANK YOU
HWH PARTS

Here's the top and bottom view of the rollers and pin held by snap ring.

Able to get a better measurement of pin length and it 2.4" Access is a bear and I'm hoping not to have to pull more of the trim off, currently accessing via the accordion curtain behind drivers seat.

That's not the best reply from a supplier I have ever seen, but with the current pool of available workers, I can relate.

I would still maybe talk with a machine shop to at least get a price on replacements rollers. It's not a high speed operation, so I don't know why a solid roller would not work (a good shop should be able to advise on that also). Even if you installed them until the OEM parts are available.

Only thing to check on shoulder bolt is make sure there is enough clearance for the bolt head and the nut to clear as slid goes in and out.

Good luck.

It appears the HWH are going to manufacture some more parts, delay may be a month.

In the meantime I'm looking at other opportunities. The original pins have two snap rings to secure the roller at each end, in my case I believe the one that secured the bottom roller failed at some point and roller fell off - result is history.

I believe the headless clevis pin with groove is a better option. It turns out after cleaning up the roller they are not a bearing but made of bronze probably Oilite bushing and cupped one side for the snap ring to be installed.

To be continued:

Unfortunately nobody has stock. Everyone says they can order them but HWH says they need to manufacture them. I was hoping for new old stock somewhere but have stuck out. Thanks for recommendation.

How about trying one of the salvage yards.

Just to update my saga with the slide.

I was able to order the kit to repair the system based on the product data sheet found online at HWH. However when it arrived, while the rollers and snap rings are correct the pin I need was not included. In it's place is a small slotted screw the kit [RAP90826] not useable for me.

Further correspondence with HWH reveals I need a different kit [RAP63496] which is on order. I've found no documentation regarding this kit or it's contents, at only $21 it will be interesting.

I'll again update once items are received and hopefully the system fully operational.
