Function of solenoid

This picture is of the auxiliary air port in my front run bay. Anyone know what that solenoid does?

What year, make and model do you have? As a general rule, solenoids use a lower voltage circuit to operate either a higher voltage circuit, or operate a hydraulic or air circuit.its sort of a “valve” for those power sources, whether it be electric, air or hydraulic

The valve you have appears to be an “Asco red hat” which normally controls air or hydraulics.

The beauty of solenoids is that you can operate a switch that makes things happen such as your leveling jacks, slides and other mechanisms. Are you having some kind of issue?

Birdhunter,

The only solenoids visibly like those on my coach are in the basement above the third pass thru storage locker installed in the green silicone hose coolant lines. I think they are part of the logic for basement heating but never checked them out.

Air horn ?
Drain the air system and hit horn button. If true, it should click.

Horn is what I'm thinking as well. I'll get somebody to help me test it.

I think I have one of those in the inverter bay located in the third bay as well. Yes that's on a coolant hose. I've always wondered what that does. But this one is clearly on an air fitting.

No issue. Just wondering what purpose it serves. I think twin boat may be on to something, perhaps it controls the air horns.

Could very well be as that is something a solenoid would be used for.

Air Hose Connection - not a solenoid

Our 95 Affinity cam with a spare 10 ft hose and male connector (standard repair shop connection) with an air chuck (it fits into the female connector pictured). The intent of this setup is to inflate low tires (or whatever you might need 110-120 lbs of air). Used it twice to assist other RV’s over the years.

It's both. Solenoid is for the horn the female connector is for air as you state. I have a hose but I've never been happy with the amount of air pressure. I wish there was a way to turn it up.

Do you often need over 110-120 psi?
