Thanks I have thought about doing this ,but, as we were on our 1st long trip and 1000 miles from home I didnot want to possibly loose my shore connect. I'll try this tomorrow.

I thought my transfer switch wasn't working when I only had shore power. So I tested the voltage coming from the genset and there was none. I had a spare regulator which I installed and still no luck.
So the next step was to drop the genset and do some more testing but just before I did that I came across a video where a guy was using a drill and spinning it backwards by hand while plugged in with the genset running and the trigger pulled.
I figured I had nothing to lose so I tried it and bingo the generator started putting out power again and has worked fine since. If you have an electric drill it's worth a try.

What? What did you do? Confused.
I read - spin the generator backwards with a hand drill while the generator is running? All while plugged in?

It sounds like the drill trick is to send some power in, to flash the field coils.
I believe if you hold the start switch for 30 seconds, after its running, that does the same thing.
Here is the story about the drill trick.

Yes that's what it does.

I actually only had to spin it by hand and it worked for me.
