I bought toppers for my '02 DSDP from Tough Tops, they're right here in my home town but the last time I looked at their website they didn't work with Girard awnings. Looks like they do now though. Tough Tops only offered vinyl infused fabric and I specifically wanted high quality woven fabric so Stone Vos is who I went with

I replaced four Girard slide out covers with new Stone Voss covers last December. All four fit perfectly. I'm not sure how they could be too long as the excess just winds onto the roller. In fact, the OEM covers were over 2 ft longer.
Do you mean they were too wide for the roller tube?
It may be possible Country Coach uses a non-standard width tube for the side outs.

Here is a link to the Girard instructions:

I ordered the 3/8" square drive tension tool from Girard.
I made a detailed writeup with tips for installation.

Stone Vos says the length is measured along the length of the slide out, the width is what goes onto the roller which is the distance the slide moves out plus 12".
I also ordered to tool but should have made my own.
Interesting, I downloaded and saved their measuring instructions to my desktop computer. Just went back to the Stone Vos website and they have changed it from what I have saved. Before it said to measure the case and the slide depth and they would figure the correct length. Now it says to measure the actual fabric length (which I provided them as per their request before ordering but they ignored them) as well as the slideout depth, which I had also provided, then they added 12" to that.

Old instructions:
Quote:
Girard Slide toppers :

Girard slide toppers are manufactured differently then all other toppers which requires an additional measurement. Because Girard assemblies are made differently they require exacting finish depths. In order to ensure that your toppers fit properly please follow the instructions below. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

1.) Measure the length of your assembly the same as you would for the Carefree assemblies, inside the end caps.

2.) We need the depth of each slide ( how far the slide extends out ). You can get this measurement simply by measuring from the wall of the coach to the outside lip of the slide. This measurement can be taken from the ground. We will need this measurement for all slides.
New instructions:
Quote:
Girard slide toppers are manufactured differently then all other toppers which requires an additional measurement. Because Girard assemblies are made differently they require exacting finish depths. In order to ensure that your toppers fit properly please follow the instructions below. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

1. Fully extend the slide, window, door or patio awning.

2. Measure the current slide fabric length from left to right.

3. Then measure the depth/extension from the lead rail back to the rollertube and estimate the remaining fabric on the rollertube. If you need more details on how to estimate the total depth, please call us.”

Toppers are scheduled to be delivered today, probably while I'm getting a new crown on.
I have a week and a half before my next trip and now the weather has gone to showers or rain. Hopefully there will be some breaks in the weather and I can get all four done.

Awnings were delivered before I went to the dentist. Check for my return shipping was in the package. Got the passenger side bedroom one installed and tested, had to undo the tension, move the fabric and retension. Working great.
Moved to the drivers side bedroom. It was already starting to come apart so it was hard to remove, in fact the stitching was out for about a foot at the front and I really had to work to remove it due to it being bunched up. In fact, one of the factory seams split totally as I worked on it and I wasn't even pulling on that joint. Then it started raining so I didn't get the install of the new fabric started.

Things are looking GOOD!!

I'm guessing the woven fabric you wanted was the Coachguard fabric. My question with that would be the ability to clean tree sap etc. Thats the fabric i'm leaning towards. When i called Stone Vos as to why the difference in the warrantees between the Coachguard & Migliore they replied that is what the fabric manifacturer specified.

They have a list of what to use to clean, even including blood. I can't figure out how you'd ever get blood up there.
The fabric also needs to be cleaned and sprayed with 303 Fabric Guard ever 4 years or so.
Another thing is NOT to use silicon spray to lube the channels, again 303 only.
