Girard awnings question

Hi all

I just came back from a great SW trip. Some business. Some family. Lots of fun. I finally am getting around to the non critical part of my coach after one year of ownership. I made an appointment at Girard while I was in SoCal to see what was going on with my toppers. Fabric there but the metal slats ( articulations) are not. Upon further review the fabric the former owner put in was not sunbrella, but a boat or Naugahyde type. Girard says it won’t operate properly so they wouldn’t put the articulations on abs see how it worked. They want a complete redo. About 3500 for all four out the door but no paint on the articulations.

They were great to deal with.

So, my question is do I get the articulations and see if I can get them installed by someone else and see how the fabric works?

Do I go to another installer and not the factory and see what they say?

The picture below shows why the articulations are so important to the cosmetics of the coach while fabric is hooked up.

Do I go to non Girard fabric? Or do I pay the piper and be done.

Thoughts ?

If it were me, I'd bite the bullet and have Girard make it right
