Rick, I had them done at a truck repair shop near me in Fremont, IN. I’ll look today for the bag numbers.

I don’t recall when CC changed over the front to IFS. I’m thinking that was 2003. I have to believe the bags are different for IFS

You've been super helpful Dave. I'm actually going to go to Fort Wayne first of September, I could pick the bags up in Michigan and have the same shop do mine. Could you post the name of the shop you used, please?

The switch to IFS started in the 2000 model year. 2002s are definitely IFS.

Also, early on in this thread (I haven't read all of the latest posts), I mentioned Olstrom Custom Coach in Tucson had installed new bags for me and some of us were wondering if they'd accurately listed on my service order the bags they used. Eric confirmed the bags were accurately listed and were Firestone bags. So, at least for my coach, Firestone part number 9336 are in the front and 7667 are in the rear. Eric also added that some bag numbers cross over to the other axle in a different application and that this happens with several bags across different models.

Front bags part number: 2258A1483
Rear bags part number: AB1DK231-8070

I believe they are Firestone bags.

I won’t recommend the shop I used, since they did a poor job and had to redo all the air bag work at their expense, including buying a second set of new bags…

I have had shock absorbers replaced at Stoops Freightliner here in Fremont. They were professional and reasonably priced. I go back to them for maintenance I can’t do myself

Bummer. They must have been really lousy to even wreck the bags.

Almost sure at this point we are using the same bags, 7667 in rear and 9336 in front. Have lined up a shop in Fort Wayne along our route to do the swap. Can't thank you enough for all the useful information you have given me!

For folks viewing this thread in the future, I have an update on air bags for my 2003 Allure. I've learned, unfortunately, that Eric and his paperwork for my March service were wrong when describing which bags go where. We blew one of our new rear bags a week ago after putting only just under 8k miles on it (appeared to be failure of the cone) and during the course of getting a replacement installed I found that 9336 bags were on the rear and those are the ones that are supposed to be on the rear. Eric confirmed their paperwork and prior feedback was incorrect and it should have stated 7667 in the front and 9336 in the rear. I hope this helps others who might need this info.

Thanks Dave, I was just researching what bags to buy for my 2003 Intrigue.

Dave, I too learned that Eric's original information was not correct when I blew a bag 2 days after installation! Ouch.

In talking with Gregg Bootes with Oregon Motorcoaches, he suggested the 8184’s on the rear and the 7667’s on the front as the 8184's are 20" bags and the 9336 are only 17" bags - so in the end you'll have more leveling ability.

Here is the application info for the 8184's:

APPLICATIONS:
Neway 90557290 (RL228, KL230)
Neway 90557308 (Same except piston stud length 1.5
W01-358-8182)

Here is the application info for the 9336:

APPLICATIONS:
Watson & Chalin AS-0053

I think 8184's are the right spring for our coaches. Gregg sent me the info on both springs and I can forward if you want.

Thanks John, I know we have the same model Coach. Are you using the 8184 on the rear? I noticed the 8184 have over 2 inches more travel then the 9336. With my original air bags I need as much travel as possible. I have to raise the rear to maximum height to back into my sloped driveway.

Bill

IF this helps anyone:

'01 Intrigue 40' Front bags w/metal base cone 8802
Rear bag with metal base cone 9366
Torque Rod for Ridewell rear suspension TMR527 (locates
rear axle)

***Note*** I believe that I have the Front and Rear numbers correct but they were not identified as such on my invoice, they could be flipped but numbers are correct. Work was performed by Thurston Spring Service in Richmond, Virginia 804-232-8981. I give them my STONGEST recommendation if you are in the area and need repairs. Excellent work at fair price.

Yes, Bill, I'm putting the 8184's on the rear. Yes, I remember your drive is sloped, they give 3" more lift than the 9336's.

Good to hear from you!

Allure Air Bags

John
Been reading thru the thread and see where you have or are going to install #8184 air bags on the rear. Interested in replacing my air bags after reading thru thread and feel I have same Coach as you and TR4. I have 2003 Allure 36 ft with 2 slides # 30924. Was thinking need to replace leveling valves also and wanted to know what you thought about that and interested in if there is any special adjustment to change the fact that #8187 bags go 20 " high instead of the 17 " of the #9336. Or is it simply a remove and replace.
Unsure from the posts where you purchased the bags and would appreciate getting your source. Our current plan is to gather and get parts for install in the spring. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience

Gary,

I purchased the rear (8184's - SKU: W01-358-8184) from Truckspring.com in Saginaw, MI.

As for the leveling valves, here is the webpage for the ones I purchased (Dave (DJ55) was very helpful in finding the right part #).

https://www.finditparts.com/products...ce=OrderMailer

My mechanic did not install the leveling valves as the original ones were still functioning correctly. Also, the new 8184's are similar to the original air-springs, so no changes in ride height were necessary (remove and replace with new).

This is still a learning process for me, so make sure you verify and re-verify as changing air-springs is not inexpensive! Ha!

Keep me posted. Please also PM me your email and phone (if you like) so we can stay in touch if necessary as our coaches are very similar.

One other thing, I believe the original bag part number for the rear suspension on my coach was Neway #90557290.

Here are the specs and applications for the 8184:
