HWH Train 4 cylinder

Need help with front slide, 03 Country Coach HwH train 4 cylinder AP21499. Slide goes out uneven rear of slide cocking not going out all the way. Can not see any visual problem. Country Coach in Oregon closed, HwH said maybe 4 weeks before tech calls back. Any help would be great. Thank you.

...not familiar with your rig but ones of that vintage use two HWH cylinders on the genset slide and an equalizer tube to make sure the cylinders stay in sync. If nothing is hanging up on the slide extension tubes/rails, then the equalizer tube might be going bad....if its just an air pocket, the normal "bleed" process is to run out the slide from start to stop a couple times but need to watch that the slide doesn't get too far out of sync--side to side.

I have the same train system. I have "experience" with it Something made it get out of sync or there is something broke/binding. You can find the troubleshooting guides on there website. It's very hard to navigate to get to all of the appropriate pages for the train system but there all there.

I would start by removing all the access panels/trim to check for damage and or leaking. If you have to replace a hose you have to remove the nuts on all 4 rams and cycle them all the way in and all the way out with out, without moving the slide, (if that makes sense). That's the only way to get them to sync again.

Thanks to everyone's response, took awhile but found the problem. The upper rear train chain has three bound up links & rollers, looks like a major job to replace but will tackle it soon. Thank you all.

Easier than replacing a upper hose.
You can replace the individual links/rollers.

i would recommend replacing the whole chain. its easier and more reliable than replacing links. but link parts are less money than whole chains.
hwh wont let us repair links.
i believe there are link kits still out there.

Also have noticed with slide not going out all the way..stop it just before it starts to cock sideways, it creeps down on floor in rear.

Country Coach Slide Type B Train Drive Hydraulic Cylinder Removal

1. Retract the slide (extend cylinder rams).

2. Support inner edge of slide with blocks and secure slide with winch.

3. Disconnect all four hydraulic cylinders from the slide by removing the nut on the end of each ram.

4. Use the slide extend switch to fully retract the rams.

5. Open the extend and retract solenoids to bleed off all hydraulic pressure.

6. Label then disconnect and quickly plug the two hydraulic lines and cap the fittings on the failed cylinder using AN-4 plugs and caps. Be prepared to catch the small amount of fluid that will drain from the connections when the hoses are disconnected.

7. Disconnect the train bracket from the wall for the failed cylinder.

8. Slide the failed cylinder and attached train away from the wall until the leading set of cylinder rollers reach the end of the track.

9. Slide the hydraulic lines out of the train and wall mount bracket on the failed cylinder.

10. Pivot the ram end of the failed cylinder and thus the leading set of rollers out and away from the track.

11. With the aid of an assistant, slide the failed cylinder and train back towards the wall curling the train cars inward towards the center of the slide until all rollers have cleared the wall end of the curved corner track.

12. Cylinder and attached train with wall mount bracket can now be taken to the bench to detach the cylinder from the train by removing a snap ring from an end of the shaft attaching the cylinder and two rollers to the first car of the train and removing the pin.
